Hi,

I have had my SSD installed for a couple of weeks now and instantly saw a big performance increase so never thought to check what it actually was.

I ran it today and got this result in HD Tune.

I read around on the net and I believe that I have the ACHI turned on but I thought I would get higher performance out of it, around 230MB/read. I should add that it wasnt enabled at first and I have only just done so. if it was enabled from the beginning would I see consistant and higher read levels?

any ideas what might be causing it? or is this the expected speed once W7 and a few apps are installed?

thanks

appears to be yes.

C:\Windows\system32>fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify
DisableDeleteNotify = 0

whether this happened today when I turned on ACHI i am not sure :S

this appears to be performing better on ATTO. would it be worth reinstalling W7 now that I have enabled ACHI and do a fresh install with it now enabled?

If it works on AHCI now then no need to reinstall really.

All the things win 7 does with an SSD such as pagefile, defrag etc you can turn off manually, hardest thing is going from ide to ahci after install but you already done that.

Some guides on ocz forums show you how and what to check.

sandforce based ssds will vary depending on how compressible the files you are reading/writing are. The more compressible the faster it will be. ATTO uses very compressible files and therefore gives the best results.

Another thing to note. Constantly running benchmarks will use up blocks on the drive. So if you run a lot of benchmarks one after the other without giving the drive time to recover you will start seeing degraded performance.
