So let me ask, why are people with Range Rovers and Discos in your eyes "noobs"?...
Is this some sort of 4x4 snobbery? If so, no wonder the lanes are getting closed! Im sorry mate, but if you treat people with that sort of contempt less people will take it up and less roads will be accessable.
Least the owners of these Range Rovers and Disco's were actually taking them "off road" and not just using them as Chelsea taxis on the school run.
All the rrs' and freelanders got stuck, it was defenders that were pulling them out.
I don't understand the motive for taking a £50k road car offroad when they are too scared to get it dirty or just get stuck the second they hit some challenging turf.
It isn't snobbery at all, you buy a defender to pelt it though fields and bogs without a care in the world you buy a disco 3 or rrs to pose.
My dad got stuck in a 6 foot deep mud hole, we weren't bothered about the condition of the car and we had loads of fun getting it out, the onlooking owner of a black rrs decided to try to to turn around (which was impossible) when all you needed to get up was decent amount of momentum.
The bill thats gone through clsing lanes is called NERC, it basicaly made any lane that wasn't classed as a byway undrivable.
Was that a pay and play site or byways?? if it's a byway you may want to take down the ones where people have driven all over the place as thats illegal.
We took down the registration of the team of people who were driving all over the place getting suck and telling the n00bs to follow and reported them, we are sick of people doing whatever they like and wrecking havoc, there are pathways for a reason.
It is a shame as 'we' offroaders have got a bad name for destroying countryside when that is our last intention, it is the showoffs that are causing all the problems
mudclub is a great place to start to learn, we learned at the merc offroading day.
Just make sure you offroad in a car your life doesn't depend upon as it can in some bad cases get damaged (our cb radio got damaged by a very low tree)
