i have been trying to sort out the cringably poor video quality through my x1950 with no luck, and the ati site is less than helpful.. ati boasted that the x1950 could display "more than 1 billion colours" ...HOW?.. if no other video decoder can, and it seems impossible to get hodl of ati's dvd player then what are we meant to do?

They claim to be able to display more than one billion colors? How's that possible since it doesn't support more than 24-bits worth of colors, i.e. 16,777,216 distinct shades? Shenanigans on them for counting Windows's 8 alpha bits toward their color count.

anyway, back to the main point, as i've returned from my madness with ati... does any body have poor video quality with ati cards/ know what i can do?...

What do you mean specifically by poor video quality? Is the color depth too low? Are you getting shadowing, odd patterns, other oddities? Is anything so evident as to allow photography of the problem?

Other than ATi are carp,

My X1950 XT-X Displays everything just the way I expect it to, I'm happy with it.

You tried installing the latest drivers ?

Used driver cleaner at all ?

Tried a slightly older driver at all ?

to start off.. sorry for the rather umproffessional post, got a bit angry.... i will have a go at screen shotting a frame.. the colours are bold, and textures are without deffinition, contrast is reasonaly poor, the general image is grainy, and not crisp

i've got nearish the newest drivers, and i'm using a vga connector... my screen is samsung syncmaster 193v

ps thanks for all the help, despite me not being that helpful :)
