**Offical 8800Ultra owners thread** post pics and clocks.

Silly son of a ! That is one hell of a clock bump, 350mhz above the ultra stock clock - 400 over the stock 8800gtx, thats one helluva bump. Id hazzard a guess at that not being on the stock cooler :D.

To be completely honest I cant see what most of you are crying about with the ultra release, sure its only a clock bump so in effect so is moving from say an e6600 to an e6700 - sure one could argue that fsb limits can limit one but they are essentially the same with a clock bump, this is after all an overclockers forum, I dont see many people crying about higher clocked stupidly expensive proccessors. If those clocks are attainable with some decent cooling for that price and yet you still cry about how different it may be to the standard gtx then this clearly isnt the forum for you. Its about OVERCLOCKING, and I'd like to think that if a new piece of hardware comes out that is even more overclockable than the original then its a plus, even if it does cost more. Its essentially an extreme edition processor with an unlocked multiplier - figuratively. I for one wont be buying one as Im waiting for both red and green to get their arses into 65nm before I upgrade. But still give them a break.

And?

New world records gotta be worth a mention. And he wasn't even trying.

I was just pointing out to jolly that these were liquid nitrogen cooled and not conventional cooling. They are indeed impressive and I'm sure even with air/water cooling you could still reach fairly high clocks.

Quote from the guys post :

"All runs done here without any shader clock tweaking, card bios manipulation, or component reworks (outside of vmods).
Just some straight out of the box clocking with simple vmods on core and mem with ln2 cooling."

So it is vmodded as well as LN2 cooled.

How long do you think before we see this type of score with a stock CPU & GPU on air ??? (one, two or three years ???)

Ok I just ordered one .... well sort of :p

BFG OC2 GTX .... 626 core 1450 shader and 2000 mem compared to 612 core 1500 shader and 2200 mem ... actual game performance as good as, saving nearly £130.
Bargain ! (in a twisted make myself feel better about spending £400 sort of way) :D

Not gone completely mad then, vogon? ;)

Gibbo (if you're reading this...) Out of curiosity, how many pre-orders have you had for the Ultra so far?

Taken from a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra review
Now I already stated it in the introduction, you pay top dollar or whatever your currency is for this product so NVIDIA made sure you can play around with it overclocking as well.

The 8800 Ultra at standard at 612 / 1500 / 2160 clocks (core / shaders / memory). But there's definitely room for some more. The card can be pushed towards a core frequency of 690 MHz, the memory at 2500 (2x1250) MHz and the Shaders at 1728 MHz. Not bad, so if your e-penus wasn't tickled about performance already ... you get to have some more ... yes we can squeeze even more performance out of your games.

Hi there

We've sold quite a lot of the Asus ones as those are in stock. :)

Plus taken a couple of pre-orders for the BFG model.

Wow how sad, seems some people have more money than sense. Hope those extra handfull of fps more are worth it. :o

i cant actually believe people are buying them ^^ If its extreme enthusiasts then fair enough but if people are buying them because they are the fastest then rofl?

He was using LN2 for goodness sake :)

If that's not trying I don't know what is :)

fornowagain means that Vince wasnt even trying with the ln2.

He would be able to go a lot higher if he took more time tweaking everything etc

if you have the money, and dont like to overclock, why not?

even though once a gtx is watercooled it will be able to get its bios flashed to ultra speeds.
