******* OFFICAL La Liga Thread *******

Barca done that to themselves to be honest. Should have got a 2nd and finished it off instead of passing it around in triangles for 10 minutes in their own half! But I suppose it could have been worse if Real had a few breaks on them, sure they'll be alright with a draw but it really was there for the taking.

Real improved hugely down a man just taking Alonso off, the amount of times Alonso and Khedira in that second half would close down someone in midfield just to fall over on their arse, or kick out and miss both ball and player, or just concede the freekick is laughable. Alonso still wasted the ball the few times he had it, the amount of times they actually close a player down, win the ball and turn it into an attack is truly pathetic.

Alves did miss the ball completely for the penalty, angles on replays were difficult to tell, does look like he caught Marcelo's right foot, if so, can't see how its not a penalty. As for fans throwing stuff at messi, they are throwing stuff like straws at him, to waste time he kicked a ball full blast at the fans, and you call the fans pathetic? Strange.

Ozil, what a pratt, absolutely, shockingly lazy when he came on, closing down, running, the guy barely ever moves. Even the attack he started very near the end he wasted 20 seconds facing his own goal rather than pass then finally passed Ade in behind the defence, though that looked lucky not to be offside.

But when the goal happened, not long after a rubbish freekick by Ozil, after 20-25mins of being lazy and truly awful, he finally ran, near the edge of the box he ran for 2-3 minutes, created pressure, won the ball and then the move that ended in the penalty happened.

Thing is Ozil was the same in the first Real/Barca game, lazy, inept, couldn't be arsed and dissappeared, was the same against Spurs in the second leg, barely involved at all.

CLosing down wise the midfield 4 sat 5-10 yards deep of Barca's midfield and ran out one at a time AFTER someone received the ball, Barca just had so much time and space on the ball, they don't close down or pressure as a team in the slightest, and only Pepe had any success winning the ball.

Overall, as I said and got massively slated for after the 5-0 game, Barca were very one dimensional, hold in midfield, back off, then play essentially either a long ball over the top and in behind the defence, or a diagonal pass, 90% of their attacks are like that, or Messi running around on his own with no one else involved. Don't get me wrong, Xavi mainly, but the others have insanely good passing, like Cesc, to pull those passes out of nowhere, except with Barca its completely predictable because they do it SO often.

Barca could/should have won that game 5-0 again, villa being off form and frankly, lazyness and waiting for the easy chances cost them, huge. Real, asked for it, sit off and defend against a quality attack, fluked a draw when they needed a 5-0 win. Barca are weak in defence, no support for Ronaldo in the first half, Benzema was rubbish at leading the line, Ade is hugely better at winning headers and a clear better choice than Benzema. Mourinho got it tactically wrong in every department frankly, as he did in the first match, but the only tactic he knows for the "big" games is sit back with 10 behind the ball and hope to fluke a winner, daft he didn't try something new after it failed SO badly in the first game and seeing as, with the cup final and the semi final in the CL he had the chance to really "test" new tactics to see what worked. This game didn't matter, leagues gone, he could test a different tactic, try all out attack, drop Alonso/Khedira who were the worst players in the first game, try anything so he had a plan for the actually crucial one off games he can win something from. Idiot.

You say one dimensional like its a bad thing? and that it's easy? They hold the ball like no one else and what's the point in just going for a pass up front if you don't keep possession?

It's clever football where they exert little effort until there is space and then bam speed up and ball goes through.

Their diagonal passes or sublime and the runs at times are exceptional. It's all about drawing teams out of position and creating these gaps which allow the passes and runs to happen.

But yes I agree and as did the guys before hand his tactics were hugely negative to start with which is strange as again as you say this game doesn't mean a great deal now in the league and the cup final is not the time to try new tactics.

Madrid could clinch the cup final but the champs league I am not sure, second leg is at Nou Camp and Madrid manage a draw at home, can't see anything but a win at Nou camp.

People think Barca dive a lot.

LOL at the Real "penalty", other then the dive for that Ade was useless, as were most of the Real side for large parts of the game, Pepe was incredible at times, a real driving force.

Barca seemed happy to keep the ball, unlucky not to score a few more and should have had another pen in the first half. All this seemed to be quiet before the storm.

Roll on the next games :D

Didn't see much of the game I as was doing a 10-10 at work, but it seemed more like a 'typical Jose vs Barca' result. It's not fun or pretty, but gets the job done. Still think over two legs Barca will progress in the CL, but with the cup final being at a neutral venue, perhaps tonight will have given him more ideas about what he can do with the players he has to improve on tonight's result. Also, never wish harm on players, but I'd love someone to actually batter Busquests, all that feigned injury warrants some real pain... perhaps a 90mph shot straight into his gonads.

Was hoping for a better game but seeing as how we still have 3 more El Clasico's to go this season, I'm not too bothered if 1 of them is poor. Messi & Ronaldo both scoring pens. Didn't see that coming.

The cup final is going to be epic.

Agreed, a draw was always a good result for barca but wednesday both will need to go for the win which should equate to an absolutely brilliant game...I hope :p

The more I read and hear about Jose the more I start to dislike him.

He is so arrogant and up himself, seems to think the world is against him and everything is done to try and bring him down.

He is now complaining about again having to play Barcelona with 10 men for a "foul that was nothing".

The other day he refused to talk to Spanish media and they all walked out, in Italy they all hated him.

It's only in England he seems to have this aura around him.
