***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I thought expert increased the number of zombies too? That's what I thought grudas was getting at. More hectic = more fun. Not necessarily about balancing as such but just the greater infected population heightening the tension, longer swarms etc.

Maybe I'm wrong but that was my only concern about locking it to normal is that generally the levels were quieter. I like the balance it has now btw.

i wont hide under the ramp again... if you lot getting so upset with it

So you won't do it again, but only to appease people rather than because it's ****ing lame?

I've left quite a few games because the survivors were employing this tactic, including OcUK people. If it happens on my server, the offender will be kick-banned. It's *so* incredibly lame.

kick banned? for using map? wow..

For using the map? That's like saying the Team Roomba guys were okay for building Sentry Guns under the floor in TF2.. I mean, they were just using the map, right?

Just because Valve overlooked a map exploit doesn't mean it's a legitimate tactic to use

As a Tank, before the patch, you could block the safe room with a car - that's just using the map, right? In Quake3 DM17 you could skybox-jump onto the outside of the ramp, and rail people when they couldn't see you - that's just using the map, right? Grow up!

how the f... is that ramp an exploit? how you think would it look in reality? why would i need to grow up? yeah im a bit immature... but thats all! sentry guns under the floor does that sound right for you? under the ramp thats normal thing... yes zombies, spec infected should be able to atack you from the sides thats the glitch not the ramp it self... and baning players for using it is stupid because it's part of the map not something like sentrys under the floor is it? as i've said before it should be blocked but banning players for hiding under there is just wrong.. :o

Mr. Contradiction!

You agree it shouldn't be used - yet you've no problem with people using it?

My server, my rules - if anyone's a **** enough to hide under the ramp, then they're not worth playing against, and I certainly don't want them ruining the game for pugs when I'm not around.

yeah i do agree it shouldn't be used when you play with people like ocuk but when you are on the server with randoms where team play is the last thing they care the only way to win is hide somewhere and that ramp is not the only place where you can easily defend your self on the map...

Some of those thing's you have compared are just stupid.

No, they where clipping through the map, and putting guns in an in accessible area, and an area you physically cannot get to.

You can get underneath the ramp as infected on this map, if you use your brain, and all work as one.

Just because Valve overlooked a map exploit doesn't mean it's a legitimate tactic to use

Not an exploit, do you know what exploit means? That would be the bomb exploit, or the exploit on de_dust (1.6) where you could flashbang the corridor into bomb area 'b'.

As a Tank, before the patch, you could block the safe room with a car - that's just using the map, right?

It was just using the map actually, and I never realised it could be done to be fair. However, it is unfair, as the survivors physically cannot move the car...if however they could all push it and move the car, that might be deem able to leave it in...But still pointless if there is only one survivor left.

In Quake3 DM17 you could skybox-jump onto the outside of the ramp, and rail people when they couldn't see you - that's just using the map, right? Grow up!

Oooh! You got it! That's an exploit rite there! :D Because you CANT do anything about it....They can't see you, get it?

I think it should be 'blocked' off, because it is an 'unfair' advantage, but still attackable.

Anyway, can't bothered to argue over something so small :p

We're arguing semantics really, whether you want to call it an exploit by the strictest definition of the word or not it's still poor sportsmanship and I think uvmain is fully justified in kickbanning for it. I wouldn't want to play with or against people with the sort of mentality that would exploit (hur) locations on the map to be practically unkillable - it's just not in keeping with a "fair experience".

The people that do this know that they are to all intents and purposes invulnerable, so let's not pretend that there's some magical solution that the infected team is too stupid to do. Smoker tongues will be instantly melee'd off, Hunter pounces will result in at most about 5 damage being done before said Hunter is melee'd/shot off, the horde (Boomer driven or otherwise) will never get past the melee shield of doom, and Tank can't even get under there to do its principal damage (punching) yet all the while the 4 stacked up survivors can unload on the Tank in safety.

It's just unsportsmanlike play, whether you want to officially label it an exploit or not.

Fair enough.

@ Uvmain: I would atleast put it as a server rule or something :p

I've only ever done it once, and it was boring really...You just sit under there, and let rip.

so you never played it? :) no one hides there when the tank comes everyone rushes to different places of the map to atack tank...

If you'd bothered to read my post which is only 1 page back I said "fortunately I haven't yet played a game where the survivors have done this" - however I know full well from other parts in the game how effective the closet-defence system is, and this is "closet XL" since you can't even attack from above. Incidentally one person with an auto-shotty can take out a tank virtually instantly so I'm surprised if the 4 people camping under the ramp would even need to move at all.

That said I'm not the one employing this lame tactic, you are - I'm sure you're far more knowledgeable than I am about this and other borderline exploits that exist in the game.

meh... ill just leave it as it is... no point actually argue over something that will be fixed :) and i wish it will be.. i know how frustrating it is when you are infected and survivors hinding under the ramp..

And yet you've stated several times that you'll still use it in public games...

If that's no longer the case then bravo, but if you still plan on using it then you deserve any banning you get.

the thing is that i dont play public games :D if i play there is always friends only or ocuk games.. :)

I thought you were putting me on ignore? No fair :/

Anyhow, by the sounds of it we've all reached an agreement in that:

* The ramp "exploit" (or whatever you want to call it) is a bit unfair to the Infected team.

* Hopefully Valve will fix the issue in future.

* We won't use the ramp "bug" in our Vs games.

...That seems fair enough all in all.
