***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Yeah you do get the moaning as if it was your fault they didn't get a tank. Although somtimes it's more annoying getting a tank in a place where you know it is going to be useless.
 
Probably easiest to just do a elimination or double elination really - not the best way to do things but far less hassle.

(whichever team gets highest score at the end of the campaign wins/etc).

On that note, I really need to get a score parser sorted on the servers and a site with the scores on...
 
A tourny would have problems due to each map being different. Some times you get the team that gets all the tanks if not two a map, all the molotov/pipes, health packs and pills a group could want!

Other times you get the group that seems to come across **** all. Still, adds a certain unknown element to it :)

The weapon spawn locations on first few maps seem to be consistent for each team though, which is good!
 
I don't personally think L4D Is tourney type of game because of the AI director, and if it was turned off that takes away what makes the game what it is.

You could still have a tourney 'for a laugh', but it would never be fair.
 
I have no doubt it could not be a serious tournament due to the director, but a fun one it could definately be. An also beating a team who are clearly the directors pet, is very satisfying.
 
tank means win most of the time i understand if we get 1 hunter less :) but 1 tank does a lot in a map :) and it's something to moan about :o

Well, nobody expects your team to do as well if you didn't have a tank and the other team did, but if we run a competition and all people do is moan about issues like this it quickly becomes a very boring exercise in frustration for the organisers.
 
Imagine a system like a super bar for the infected where you can get a Tank and activate when you like. Like super moves in Street Fighter :D As opposed to being random. This way it is in your own hands if and when you get a Tank.

or, the infected evolves over time - stay alive for long enough and get enough points, you turn into a SuperHunterTank! that'd be so awesome, and it'd celebrate decent players rather than spawning the tank for some newb who's afk!

Hmmm, sounds like COD4. The good players just get better and the new people to it get sore bums, over and over and over and over again!

it happens 1 time out of 10 that one team misses tanks and it always happens on blood harvest :o
