Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break
Survivors cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging

These confuse me, if they work as I imagine they do then smoker sounds pretty overpowered now!

Also, are these changes VS only?
 
I think it seems fair, the smoker was absolutely useless unless someone was on there own (or there was some good infected teamwork) before.
Now he is deadly like the hunter if he catches you on your own whilst also being very usefull if the survivors are mobbing together meleeing constantly.
 
Smokers aren't overpowered. I think it means that in the initial few seconds where normally you have control to try and free yourself from the tounge, you can't be meleed.

Saves a smoker attack being instantly melee'd off within 0.5seconds of hearing the "BLEH!!" attack noise.

As far as I know it is. I don't think it makes the smoker overpowered, it was getting annoying how the survivors could become nearly indestructible by constantly meleeing, now you have to aim directly at the hunter to stop him in his tracks and either kill the smoker or wait until he has actually been dragged a bit before you can knock his tongue off.
 
Just had a quick crack at it, got a 2000 point drag on my 3rd attempt! Granted I was playing with randoms.

With a coordinated infected attack the smoker is going to be lethal. I'm not complaining, smoker was so boring before.

Rocking. I'm really liking the sounds of these changes.
 
I played earlier, and it is better to be a smoker now.....Before you would go to catch someone, then your tounge would just snap randomly.

Now you go to catch them, and it's basically a lot more 'tough' so to speak, it's certainly made it a lot better...Before there would be numerous times the tounge would just snap for no apparent reason, and it is annoying.

I also like the fact the recharge is handle differently in the smokers case, as in it doesn't do the 'long' recharge as much, unless you've succesfully caught someone and been melee'd off.

The infected 'hud' is good as well :)...It's basically the same as the survivors now, with icons for the infected, health bar, and a spawn timer.

Certainly a nice addition :) And hopefully maps will be out soon also....

Or at least release a proper SDK so I can make maps with the L4D textures! Rather than using the HL2 ones for example :p

I've just added an additional plugin to the server:

Melee Bug Detector
This plugin detects people abusing the melee bug (switching weapons and meleeing repeatedly to do crazy melee damage) and warns them not to. If they continue doing it, they get a kicked and a short (5 min) ban.

The plugin won't be loaded till a server restart and there are people on there at the moment, but let me know if you see it working/not working later this evening :)
