I've just added an additional plugin to the server:

Melee Bug Detector
This plugin detects people abusing the melee bug (switching weapons and meleeing repeatedly to do crazy melee damage) and warns them not to. If they continue doing it, they get a kicked and a short (5 min) ban.

The plugin won't be loaded till a server restart and there are people on there at the moment, but let me know if you see it working/not working later this evening

I just built my new gaming PC with a C2D E8400 and Radeon 4850 and wow this game looks so much better! I think I might keep the Shader Detail and Grain effect on high from now

I only got the chance to play two levels with noobs and three levels with friends yesterday, but I'm pleased to say that Valve must see sitting under the ramp on the NM Finale as an exploit, as they've blocked it with a couple of indestructible crates

Love the new stats page - it's a real shame it's only starting now when I'm almost a Zombie Genocidest

Anyone thinking like I did this game would be boring, it's not get it.

I thought there were only 2 campaigns each with 4 levels and campaign online and single only.

There's 4 long campaigns and versus mode is the best thing since sliced bread.

But only when both teams are decent and know what they are doing and using mics adds so much to it.

Have to admit I was wrong about this game glad to eat my words.

Do you know if I uninstall the game, and download again, will it be the patched version or the original?

And when you say you can't start it without running the update, surely you can if you run left4dead.exe, with Steam closed? Or is it that aware?

no steam will always update it and if you try to run trough l4d.exe it will start steam first and then lounch the game what's the problem with you not being able to play with your friends?

Well one's DL'ing the update at 60K/s and it's saying it'll take 30 mins, the other is DL'ing the update at 25K's and it's saying over an hour

We're impatient, to summarise.

BTW - I don't think launching l4d.exe will launch Steam first, the update was released yesterday, and I've been playing all day today via Hamachi and it hasn't wanted to update. Only when I opened Steam and tried to launch through that did it start the update.
