The servers have no connection to OcUK.

They are a funded privately by individuals who enjoy the Left4Dead and prefer to have a like minded community of people to play with rather than taking pot luck in the matchmaking. To aid this, servers are listed in this forum and have OcUK in the title.

I realise this is a thorny issue and there will be a mix of feeling about how achievements should be gained and their value. It is perfectly possible to host a game locally and complete achievements in this cooperative way. Using one of the community severs to do this no different.

I can understand it is frustrating for a player looking to join a versus game with members of the OcUK community to find that the game the join is not what they expected. A quick look at the logs shows that the players were open about what they were doing and were clear they were not playing a serious game. In such a situation you can either go along with them or look for a different game.

Stats padding is undesirable in this community but it’s not illegal or excluded specifically in the EULA.

Personally I'm with FN on this one. Sorry, but kicking him for not allowing himself to be killed by you is not fair. If you want the achievement, then work for it like everyone should do.

yeah agree with you and nipple.. i got that achiement on my own local server with my brother... :o
 
Fair enough, if you are going to stats pad nobody can stop you, but don't use the servers people trust to have a good game on. It's just not fair. I wanted a good game tonight, but instead i was told to either die or go. It's not right!

yup exacly.. we wanted a versus game and all servers were full if you lot use servers for achievments why cant you just create a local server and do it ? :/
 
bleh, nipple you got the wrong idea about us, we were just helping a friend, i was returning a favour for him helping before on expert campaigns,

there were loads of other free ocuk servers, apologies that we used that one - that WAS my fault.
we found ourselves roped in to helping bjorn, (promised a decent expert after)

i know a lot of players who will personally vouch for me, i dont statpad or whatever its called and im a very decent guy.
and my apologies to you frosted, absolutely brilliant games are had every night on the servers and you should join in, fantastic bunch of servers
 
Midnight and plat are top blokes by the way never had any issues with either, to be fair the achievements in L4D mean nothing because you can just coast through the game on easy mode to get them so i dont see the point in padding for achievements that are easy to get anyway and more rewarding.

I dont like players being forced out of a server for any reason, wether its cuz you want to use the ocuk servers to play with ur mates, or to get stats or because sum1 else was on the way, if theres spaces in a server any1 can join and shouldnt be kicked imo.

This game is so fantastic 90% of the time its the times when peopel want to ruin the game by killin themselves or runnin off on their own or rage quittin that it makes the game seem poor. Even more so when theres new players in the game who are tryin to get used to it when some players just dont have the patience for new players on their team.

Tonight we had a superb vs game, my team got pwned but it was such a laugh, no rage quits plenty of LOL's a few suicidal tanks and a drunken irishman what more do ya need :)

I haven't laughed so much for ages and to be fair, Jerry did see it all the way through with everyone. Good effort by all.

If you find it boring why did you start in the first place :o....The game was so crap after all that.
 
It didn't come up on my screen that I shot anyone.
I know which incident it was though and I blame Lyon for running through a door looking like a zombie, it was a fun game though.
