My username is would be great if others could add me. Also some admin IDs would be great as mentioned above as a suggestion.

Heh, I see what you mean. some clans can be a bit like that for no reason. normally when they are populated by 13 year olds :) . Link and Aekeron are good guys and are normally happy to help...... I say normally (just offer them beer, it makes them more willing :P )
 
ok just getting back into this, 3 questions..

1. when i download new maps it says double click to install, windows does not know what the file is though?

2. what are the best maps to get and how to install.

3. best way to join ocuk server?
 
Just had the lamest Dead Air finale ever against Substance and Scoobz, they refused to leave the safe room because there was a tank outside.
 
so what would u do in that situation ? , would u also stay in the safe room whilst the tank threw rocks for 20 mins or so or would u ruch ou and take a pounding ? What did their tank do in the same situation ? i bet it rushed in like most tanks would, hence why the tank has 5000hp.

Sounds like they made the right plan to, so what happened in the end, did u all get bored and RAGE QUIT

1. Windows should show it with a steam icon. Just double click on it to install it.

2. Death Aboard (coop/versus) version 6.1 is currently installed on ocuk 3,4,5. Google it. Make sure it IS 6.1 before you download it. If different, rename it to "dthbrd61" before installing it, or you may not get into the other games. Will be getting the Dead before Dawn installed on my servers, after it is released.

3. Join an ocuk lobby (or start one and type sv_search_key ocuk) in console. Usually they play on the ocuk servers. Or at least they should do...

3b. Or join the ocukl4d steam group and join ocuk4,5,6 through there. Or connect directly via IP (Ips found on ocuk community list sticky thread).

Their tank rushed in while we were waiting for a fourth to join. Nice and fair like.

Nah, it wasn't rage, it was an apathy quit. Shame, the game had been good and close up until that point.

If you open the doors with three and a tank spawns, there isn't much that tank can do other than charge in - you'd expect them to waste the tank and let the timer run down?

We didn't open the door, it opened while we were waiting for the fourth.

And the timer doesn't go down while the survivors remain in the safe room.

ooooh sneaky valve. A new update was released 4 days ago and I didn't even notice :p

July 16, 2009 - Left 4 Dead Update Released

Left 4 Dead has been updated to include a lobby browser. The lobby browser (under Play Online) will show you a list of optimal games available for you to join. The browser pares down the thousands of lobbies and games currently being played to show you the best list of games available to you. This list includes official and add-on campaigns, including add-on campaigns you have not yet installed, making it a great way to discover them. You can filter by difficulty, official and/or add-on campaigns and by lobbies and/or games in progress. The specific changes include:

Left 4 Dead


The Play on Steam Group Server screen now displays which Steam group it's searching while updating the list

After calling a vote to change difficulty in game it is now correctly updated in matchmaking


Add-on Campaigns

When downloading a new version of an add-on and installing it (by double clicking the .VPK file), it will now correctly overwrite the previous version, even while Left 4 Dead is currently running

Addressed a crash when two mission files with the same name are installed

Steam Group Servers now will now correctly offer download links when running add-on campaigns


Server

The server will now warn if the public or private tags exceed their limits. Public tags are limited to 63 characters. Private tags used for matchmaking are now limited to 1024 characters. Note that the private tags include the name of each add-on campaign installed on the server, so an excessive number of add-on campaigns can hit this limit


SDK

The VPK tool should be able to handle campaigns larger than 500MB now

You can now drag and drop or pass a VPK file to the vpk.exe tool to have it extract the contents of the add-on to a folder. This mirrors the functionality of passing a folder and having it create a VPK file

Detail.vbsp and lights.rad have been added to the distribution

Some interesting changes. Some might help out with the search key problems some server admins have been having. Apart from that though I can't see anything. Also, still no 4x4 matchmaking :(
 
where is the VPK tool... i have downloaded maps, unzip them and windows does not know what to do with the file. i have moved them to the addon folder, but still have issues... what is wrong with me!

Honestly? No idea :(

Step by step instructions however.

1. Clear out the addons folder in Left 4 Dead.
2. Double-click on vpk file and it should auto-install. If this doesn't work, simply copy the vpk file into the addons folder (NOT the add-ons folder if this exists).
3 Run the game and when slecting campains for a game click "add-on campaign." You should now see the custom campaigns that you have installed. Select one and make a lobby as usual.

Job Done :cool:
