I've played it once.


It just seemed empty, very very pretty but empty.

Might be because you played against a load of bots ;) Everyone knows how useless a bot boomer, hunter, smoker or tank is. Expert realism or not, they're still crap.

Try it on vs against a good team. As for being empty, it's the great outdoors. Woodland and mountains. I thought the large woodland was broken up quite nicely with the large manor, railway lines, industrial yard, underground caves etc etc.

On their twitter page they mentioned "How many of you found the login/pass to the bonus section and take a tour of it? what did you think of this idea? Should we open it later?"

Has anyone else found this bonus section yet?? I'm guessing you'd have to read a few walls to figure it out, and what I've read so far has been pretty funny.
I found the username and password written on a wall, just assumed that it goes on the website somewhere. Haven't been bothered to go check it out yet.

I don't agree. I think there's obviously been a lot of work put into it and to me it showed. There are issues, no doubt about that, but they're down to fundamental design problems rather than a lack of anything other than planning at a basic level (for example, the confusing sewers). The scripting, sound, detail, concept, implementation and new textures are all very well-done.
 
Just finished an excellent versus with the OcUK lads, even if one player was running scripts.... and yes I did molly Link after the tank incapped him (i was aiming for the tank before he incapped you, honest). :D

I can't say a bad word about IHM, still loving it after playing it quite a few times now. Link made some nice tweaks, loving the sets of double tanks at the end and the instant kill on the witch is a little scary.
 
That was a brilliant game last night, IHM is very well made, if i was to just get the game plonk it on and play it i'd easily think that valve made it themselves!

Only thing i don't like too much is the first stage, it seems a little short and samey all the way through, as of the second stage the fun begins :p

I've been feeling like that lately too, but I think it's down to having a decent team. There's so many 25 pounce points in that first stage and places for infected to hit you hard, it probably would be unfair to have it any larger.

The last few times I've played it, we either faced an easy team or they had one short.
 
Does anyone know a decent way of getting L4D to show the current games being played?

It seems silly when I try to play a public match then get "2 games being played" and both are lobbies with one player... an afk host.

I'm after anyway to show more games (irrespective of server location or ping), there's no way less than 5 games are being played on the entire planet regardless of this games age.
 
Get the feeling the servers are separated between EU, Asia, US layout. Kind of irritating when you see "10,002 players" ..........."No games found" when searching for Advanced/Expert lobbies.

Exactly. Gets annoying when you know your ping is good enough to play on those servers.

TBH I'm surprised no one has made a mod to select games with a classic server list.
 
Found it.

Go to console and type "openserverbrowser" and you get a CS:S style server list of all games. You can even sort by players and just select the server and hit connect.

I'm amazed no one here knew about this command. I asked one person in an L4D match and they told me. It was literally the first person I asked! Haha.

This, is the update that Left 4 Dead deserves.
Left 4 Dead is an amazing game. It got what it needed to get right perfect, and words simply can not describe the dedication some players have for the game. I personally know many people who will play through an expert campaign every night. One of the reasons I created this mod was to give those types of people something new to experience, even in the maps they have played a million times. I also always wanted the game to feel more like the amazing intro movie, and this mod is also partially an attempt to give the game even more atmosphere, and also more challenge, but still keeping the Left 4 Dead feel as much as possible.

Left 4 Dead Apocalypse Mod is designed to further enhance the Left 4 Dead experience, add new features without loosing the "feel" of the game, and also increase re-playability and encourage teamwork. It is a set of custom scripts, server plugins, and cvar change that combined help to accomplish the goals of the mod (see above). I personally feel this game and it's dedicated players deserve to have something new, and something that makes Left 4 Dead the game they always wish it was.

All I can find is this two year old vid with no audio.. and a comment from one year ago saying a lot has changed. :D
