***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

Indeed it will be good, on the first night the main problem is the lack of servers updated. Will just have to get those nice people with good internets to host :)

Well, unfortunately my servers may not be updated straight away as I will be out until 11ish (usually updates come out at 10 I think) so there's half the ocuk servers gone lol, but I may try and get Aekeron to update ocuk1+2 though and put them back up again temporarily. I can't remember if he has access to ocuk3 or not....

If I'm around I'll make ocuk4 private for ocuk tonight only, so we have an extra server...

What are the steps to updating ones server?

On inx, pretty simple (and gameservers), login to your status page, go to services, click on your server and click update. Once it is done i suggest you restart your server a couple of times as well just to make sure it's all done and running smoothly. It doesn't often work straight away on inx either, you often have to give them some time to upload the update...

Cool, not considered looking at the control panel - doh!

I think what i'll do is schedule some games for wednesday evening/night rather than tonight as updates will be late (if at all due to network/steam overload!) and by that time everyone should have managed to download updates and get the servers hooked up. I'll also make Ocuk7 private for a day or two to allow people to get their fill of the DLC, search key = ocuk as normal.

Yeah, but experience tells me it won't actually be available for you to play until early the next day because of the large number of downloads happening and the lack of servers.

Yeah, figures. Makes a lot of sense to release it when Steam is at the busiest rather than releasing it at 9am GMT or something so the downloads are staggered somewhat.

Still, it wouldn't be a Valve release without some delays. :p

Ahh the same old Steam doozy. "It's out tonight at 10pm, I can't wait until that exact precise time to play it!!!111one *waits*".

When in actual fact, even if it is released at 10pm (lol) then the servers are going to get rammed in every oraphis more so than a cheap dutch hooker.

I will give this a try, but as always, I'll be expecting to play tomorrow :)

For all the no lifers, enjoy getting to play it ~post midnight :D

I've arranged a sesh for tomorrow with some mates too, some of them have such archaic connections that they would only download it at about 100kb/s anyway. :D

On the poster for crash course the helicopter in the background of the poster looks more like an Apache, rather than the news helicopter that picks them up from the hospital. Maybe the news 'copter crashes into a military 'copter, d'oh! :p

8v8 comments: Found the hunting rifle to be somewhat lacking with the increased SI health. Although, still found it invaluable for getting hunters/lickers off team mates from a distance and through SI etc.

Odd though the SI 'feel' like they have the right amount of health... a single bullet to the chest etc wont put down a zombie (in the typical film sense), only one in the head will do that, so having them stumble about after a salvo of m16 only to carry on charging a moment later seems right.

*ahem* Cant comment on tank. I dont think I got to be one last night? :o

Lies, I saw you as tank in the fuel depot and you were freaking awesome dude. Never have I seen such majestic tanking skills, the way you ran around - dancing in the flickering light of the burning fuel pile, wafting past survivors as if they weren't even there. Fumbling through piles of your own infected dead as you gracefully swiped them from their intended target and drove their lifeless, mangled corpses into the dirt beneath your clubbed feet.

You do know you're supposed to attack the 8 survivors that just stood around pummeling you from every angle, right? Ah well, I guess we can't have everything can we.

Kuddos & Respect +1 for that performance and as funny as hell to boot. ;)
