*** Offical Monopoly City Streets Thread ***

This reset could be a very good thing as some of the rules are odd and some just don't seem to be implemented.

We need to find somewhere much bigger than that island for the restart.

I suggest Delft, I got one account there Burning Spiders, There's loads of 1million roads and very few people buying there. we can spread out to loads of big cities as well. Working as a team to sabotage others. Coordinate an attack to sabotage all there roads, then make offers. So they have to sale.

I agree, Nassau is actually quite small. Fiji is another one that's similar but a little bigger. They initially said the reset would be mid next week, so if we take that as Wed/Thur it would be good to have a start point decided on.

Not sure I agree with Delft though - there's something quite nice about trying to own/owning a whole island like Nassau, whereas with Delft you can literally carry on going all the way to, well... India I guess :p

i think the chance cards need to be distributed more evenly

Definitely. I've got 8 roads hazarded and I haven't had a single bonus/bulldozer card since the start.

Agree with that to a degree. Logged in this morning and built quite a lot of green houses. Not a single chance card.

Doesn't matter now because they're just green houses and it's being reset, but I found it's much better to build things as late (as close to 1am) as possible. That way you don't make your streets expensive and a target for hazards throughout the day and if you do get hazarded then you can build on another street. Also any chance cards you get are more useful if you've already been hazarded etc.

Just noticed in the official blog faq that you do not get rent if you don't log in.

That pretty much scuppers anyone who is serious about this and going on holiday during the play time.

Hmmm guess so. You *could* ask a friend to just login for you, but I guess it's the same with most games, especially MMOs.

Hmm interesting Acid. So you'd recommend building more small houses just to get chance cards? My main account, as you can see mostly hazarded!

Still got $20m in rent today even with all of those out of action :/

Building loads of small houses to get chance cards is definately a good strategy, however if you fill up you road someone with a nasty combo of demolition and hazard can really mess you up.

Impressed with your portfolio rghjones! How many £1m streets are in there? I think that anything less is a waste but £20m income may tell me otherwise.

They're all 950k+, most are $1m. There's only two I know of who's value is above $1m there but they weren't a $1m road. Also in the process of transferring 6 other $1m+ roads over. All the roads listed there that aren't above $1m don't have any buildings at all.

How did you get that much money

Multiple accounts, said before.

Is it cheating or smart business sense to buy up $1m roads and transfer them to the account which is doing best :p

Well, it's kind of cheating, but there's not much difference in doing that to just telling my four friends who don't want to play properly to help me out and do it for me. Would it be cheating for my friends to buy $1m roads and sell them to me at the base price? Maybe, maybe not.

All I'm doing is transferring them to my main account, not the one that's doing the best (although obviously a repercussion of that is that it is now doing the best). However, as you can see, that's not a very smart business move because as soon as you do well and get to the top of the local leaderboard you get your backside raped :p.

Oh and by the way, I know they've said you don't get a bonus for roads being connected, but you must do. If all my properties were free of hazards, I would earn $22.47m tonight (based on adding up all their rental values). As they are, hazarded, I will earn $13.9m tonight and last night (one less hazard) I should've earned $15.7mil. Even with the extra $1m just for logging in that's still $4m less than what I actually got.

Based on that one could assume there's something at play with regards to having streets close together. I'll see what the difference is tonight too.

Doesn't matter which you get first demo card or bonus card will do. Placing a bonus building on a street cancels out the hazard.

So we need to agree on where to build..

I would prefer an island, so that wherever we're building has an "end" point where we can say we've taken it over. We can then easily move onto another area if need be, which really is no different to being in the middle of a huge country in terms of difficulty of buying new roads.

To that end, I think Nassau is a good option - it's small enough to actually get, large enough for it to take a while to secure all the streets, and is pretty cool (Barbados etc). I think me and Invader are also planning to secure a small island in the Pacific which contains nothing but six $1m roads.

I guess it depends on whether we want to secure an area or just have lots of OcUK members in one place.

I like the idea of securing an area like hat. Much less chance of getting hit. We can then use all are bonus and hazard cards to erode into another island. if we all club together and hazard someone then they will have to sale.

Does Nassau have enough 1million roads though. As I think there will be a lot of us when it restarts.

Probably not, but then we could say that we'll try and secure the Bahamas rather than just Nassau? Saying that, there's probably a good 15+ 900k+ roads on Nassau I reckon.

Edit: Looking around, are there actually any other islands with roads in the Bahamas?
