Apart from greggs which seems to be the only pies i can find, oh and some places have these paka pies.

Where i come from the petrol stations have shops in them and they sell these pies, http://www.piemanspantry.co.za/home.html

I realy miss these pies, does any of you know of a good pie place in London that is not a chain but sells good pies. There is one at leytonstone station but it is not very good, not much meat and the pastry is poor.

(i spelt official wrong in the title sorry)

well not from the petrol station like you think, the BP and SHELL garages in sa have the same type of shop going as the M&S do when they ahve the 24 hour petrol garages.

i am english but i grew up in south africa, this guy told me that he found a place in london with good pies but he couldn't explain where it was, i think he was lieing to me.

there is an aussie pie shop in shepherds bush, but that is not THAT great.

Any half decent petrol station in SA will have better pies than most of the hot pie chains here in the UK. Too much "filler" (potato and what not) and not enough substance. IMHO of course ;)

If anyone lives in Manchester, you need to check out Pi in Chorlton. Pie, mash and beer - what's not to like?
 
Tesco used to do these amazing meat and potato pies, they had them up north and then I found some in Slough, but I don't know of another branch that still does them. Slough have probably discontinued them by now too :(

They were awesome tho.

I used to go to this place in near Blackpool which had amazing meat and potato pies too, but I can't remember the name.

I went to a pub a while back and had a steak and ale pie that was in a ceramic dish with just a lid of pastry. What a jip.

Anyways I don't know where there is in London, but I like pie lol
