Hello,
Everytime I try and open a document in either Word or Excel 2007, I get an error or it takes ages to open and fails. In the bottom left hand corner of the program it says "Running Virus Scan", so I don;t know if this has anything to do with it. Everything seems rather random and iregular so next time I see the error I will post it here for you.

Can anyone help

Reagrds & Thanks,
Neil

I haven't got Office 2007...yet. Is there some kind of security setting for macros or something for Office 2007 to call up your antivirus?

If Office 2007 itself is saying that a virus scan is taking place, there must be a link between Office 2007 and your AV somewhere?

Cheers for that. It was the Norton Office 2007 plugin that was causing the errors.

Thanks Again

Really don't understand why people use Norton!!
Neither do I but is bundled with a lot of pre-built PCs and gets a lot of advertising time in ads for shops that sell these pre-built PCs.

I get this problem when opening either an Excel spreadsheet or Word Doc which is located on the desktop, but not when opening them from My Documents or from a network location

I used AVG Free
