Office Christmas parties

Not at this place they don't do a big christmas thing.

Used to love it at my old place everyone getting together for a drink, good times.

I like them. Big pee up. No real different to a normal night up, other than act more ladish and be more of a pratt. Seeing as our job is all males.

I also crash others as well. Which are far more mixed with some lovely office girls.

Had mine on Friday. Was good. Went out 1 pm in afternoon to pub and got back at 3 am on Sat. Weekend spent watching youtube in dressing gown as usual.

I don't go to them. They are mostly drama riddle events where the women cry and the men get ****ed / violent after being spurned by said crying women.

Las one I went to ended up in a free for all ruck, 10 people got nicked and 4 people lost their jobs as a result. This was in 1998......... from then on I swore I would never attend any company related social functions outside of workhours again.

Although to be fair as a non participant that free for all ruck was well worth watching.

I couldn't disagree more. Relationships are the key to working effectively in most jobs.

Absolutely! Nothing like a bit of sexual tension, a bottle of Prosecco, some mistletoe and a hotel room for the night to spice up the office environment and improve those 'working' relationships. :o

I joke, but this is actually happening to me right now.

Hardly anybody goes to the main do from the two Scottish offices as it's always way down in England. The official Scottish do is in Edinburgh so none of the Glasgow folk can be bothered going, so we have our own unofficial do.

It's always a good laugh, it's mostly male in here so not much in the way of drama and we keep it low key. Company sticks a bit of cash towards the dinner, rest is up to us so we normally hit a buffet then head to a pub.

Hate them, I have to sit in a office Monday to Friday with my colleagues who I'm at best indifferent to. I'm not wasting my free time with them when I could be spending it with people I actually care about.

The telling thing is that when I went to our Christmas party last year everyone spent the entire time getting as drunk as possible so that they can tolerate the people they are out with. I'd much rather they just give us a £30 Christmas bonus or something instead of a free night out.

I disagree, I feel a good working relationship comes in handy however I think if you form personal bonds, you're less likely to look for ways in which things can be improved or give honest constructive criticism.

I work mainly in projects, if you're grinding away daily doing the same stuff, maybe it's not so important. But project working requires complete objectivity.

Bleeding glad I don't have to work with you Rimmer.
Rimmer?

Doesn't fuss me, I judge a colleague based on their merit as a worker, not who they are as a person. I subsequently don't care about their attitude toward me as a person, I have plenty of friends outside of work.

Not going this year. 1200 people in the AECC for food, booze and shenanigans, but I'll be in Thailand :D

Went to the Centrica ball 2 weekends ago and that was a cracking night, so I'm content with the work type partying this Christmas season.

We have a Christmas party every year and I love them. We are a company of about 100 people and everyone gets on so we always have a good time, from the board through to us grunts.
