A new car? In 2 weeks? They wish!
As usual I doubt we'll see much change to the cars until the "European" season starts (If I can use that to describe Azerbaijan!)

Forgot there was a 4 week gap between Australia and Baku!

They said they where developing 2 cars incase they couldn't get the current car to work. Think toto said they can switch if needed

Team principal Frederic Vasseur said this week that Leclerc's car had two problems with the electronics control unit (ECU) on race day.

As drivers are restricted to two ECUs for a season, Leclerc will be penalised for going over his allocation.

"It is something we have never experienced in the past and I hope now it is under control," Vasseur said.

"But unfortunately we will have to take the penalty in Jeddah because we only have a pool of two ECUs for the season."

I understand cost caps and trying to keep thing under control but surely 1 race into the season and they are having to take penalties isn't good for the sport.... Who suffers the most here - the fans surely....

Seems ridiculous start to the season already for Ferrari.

Max could take 5 GP's off ill and still cruise to the title.

I see Lewis has announced that his long tern trainer/assistant Angela is moving on after 7 years, will be odd not seeing her there!
Didn't Lewis go through (maybe still has) a long Covid episode? Given how it's such a new malaise, is he perhaps looking at a trainer with specialist knowledge?

Yeah, her statement on instagram reads:

Exactly 7 yrs ago on this day I was standing in the F1 paddock for the first time at the Australian GP. Today I’m excited to share I’m off on my next adventure.
I am so grateful and blessed to have had this incredible journey in F1 and I know my story will continue.
Thanks to the MB team, who have been my family for the past 7 years.
And @lewishamilton you GOAT !! It’s been such an honour and pleasure to stand along side you I’m so proud of you and everything you have achieved.
Thank you for supporting me, believing in me and showing me the limitless potential we all have within us.
I am so excited to watch the next chapter for you. There’s nothing you can’t do.
Don’t stop believing…
Lives journey is one big wave ,
Keep riding
Dream big
As Dreams do come true
Forever by your side
STILL WE RISE

These guys know how to manage their image, but it does seem like a genuinely warm parting on good terms with her off to do new things.

Yeah I agree not strange that they would part ways after 7 years people want to move on or try new things. I find the timing a little strange one race into the season. Maybe she has some inside knowledge that Lewis's time in f1 won't be much longer and found something else she couldn't turn down..

Or maybe most of her specialist training is needed during the off-season. Now that racing has started again, now is the right time to move on and give LH a chance to find a new trainer before next winter.

Not much to learn from FP1 with conditions so different from how they'll be in quali and race but, caveats aside, looking good for Aston and Merc, bad for Ferrari, McLaren, and Alfa.

And Red Bull, of course, out in front.

Surprised how far off Ferrari are maybe they are staying off the kerbs a bit more or turned down the engine a bit to avoid any issues

Aston Martins up there, interesting.

Would be cool to see another team other than the traditional top 3 have a pop
