This season is going to be a horror show for Liberty Media. Just as they are tying to bring in a new casual audience they get lumped with another ruleset which results in one team domination.

Only a matter of time before the new casual audience figure out that F1 is mostly turd in terms of on track action.

Wonder how long DTS can keep pulling in new faces, it’s popularity is surely going to tank at some point.

How quick were Aston in the speed traps? Hopefully they have a setup that can race (overtake) rather than something that is just going for ultimate lap time.
If they qualify 3,4 I don't think they will have the chance to overtake anyone else. RBs will be off in the distance and Merc/Ferrari don't look like a threat to them here

Indeed. Two tarnished championships by an unlikeable team certainly isn't going to help either. As a British broadcaster Sky must be hating it. It'd be interesting to see the viewing figures in comparison to 2021.

A lot of the new fans are Verstappen fans so I don't think the ratings will suffer that badly unless every race is Verstappen 20 seconds ahead of Perez by the half way point.

When Vettel went on that 13 run streak you'd basically tune out once he was safely ahead at the race start, we will have to see what the season develops into.

Am I the only one who thinks this is looking like a great season?

Yeah, Max is going to win it but behind that it's more open that its ever been. We're going to see incredible battles all the way back through the field.

But there's nothing quite like a battle for the race lead, everything else pales in comparison to be honest.

And Perez is not even close to Verstappen's level, there's always been good battles through the field but I don't enjoy them half as much as the battles for the lead. The added tension, drama and fallout that comes with these scenarios can't be matched.

Gotta hope for some RBR unreliability for a few races to really give us a treat I feel.

That's my thought too.

Everyone complains about the runaway team, and it used to be incredibly boring one team go around and occasionally pass traffic. Yes, they have to show certain teams because of sponsorship deals, but they're much better at broadcasting midfield battles than they used to.

I'll agree that battles for the race lead, and for the WDC, are better. But I don't find that they're the only source of interest, and a season with a lot of interest down the field can be better than a season where we've got a bit of a title battle but the order is pretty set and there are few battles for position further down.

I agree with your take on this, everything comes and goes in terms of popularity, f1 was always really a bit niche, in fact motorsport has always had a bit of a limited following. As has most sport apart from football.
F1 is very predictable this year and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon.
