I've just watched the F1 Academy race 3 on YT. Very poor with little regard for track limits, poor enforcement of rules, and far too short. These drivers are learning to be F1 drivers so need to be held to the same standards.
F1 Academy is supposed to be feeder series for the feeder series. No one is going directly from it to F1.
Yeah fair enough. Makes you wonder why Leclerc didn’t just jump to the outside for the better line. He probably knew Max was going to go aggressive to cover him. I guess he was just hoping for a better start.Looking at 6-7s into the video linked above, Charles wasn't alongside. Max closes the door before he gets there:
Huh? He’s sixth.
Thought those haas cars were meant to be RBRs now? Both Astons and both HAAS cars starting from the pitlane for the main event.
Medical Car 1 has a real chance to clinch more points later on
I had the same thoughts, then 1min later Abbi Pulling said the same thing on team radio. so many times there was at least a cars width between the car and the limit.I've just watched the F1 Academy race 3 on YT. F1 drivers don't often seem to see backing out as an option and they really should - especially if you're likely the one to come off the worst from any collision or have more to lose.
That's not what the commentators were saying. And these drivers are too old to be going into the likes of F3 and F4.
Yes, I do agree - depends what you need out of a race I guess; win at all costs or play the numbers game and accept that some points are better than none.I guess it's a slippery slope at this level. If you start backing out of everything, you will quickly be made a mug by everyone else.
You do have to have an element of aggression and take some risks.
Obviously what makes a great driver is the balancing act of knowing when to be aggressive/hold your nerve, and when to back out.
What lap will Max get to the front (assuming not punted off in lap 1)? Guesses please. I say lap 8.
The Texans have guns as well!Another butchered national anthem. Jesus h.
Both Haas and both Astons starting from the pit lane.
