Max absolutely blitzed that. Perez is right where he should be at the moment. Definitely needs this if he wants any chance to stay at redbull

Not really. Perez is still clearly very slow, it's just that the RB is clearly mental fast around here (at least in the wet).

...and he STILL nearly went out in q2

Rapid from Max, his onboard for that whole lap is a great watch.

Good news for the race tomorrow is that at least the McLarens are only 5-6 so they’ll have to battle a little before disappearing off.

Is this a possible / probable win for max? He's miles faster than anyone else. Car is obviously amazing here as perez was 3rd!

Great lap by leclerc. At his best he is better than sainz best. He's just not his best enough.

Was hoping for more from gasly.

I expect RBR to extend their lead tomorrow in the wcc

I don't think so. Max was sizzling in the wet, but he wasn't great in practice. I reckon RB have gone with a more wet biased setup, whilst McLaren have set up better for the race.

Max will be fast, yes, but he won't be like it was in Quali.

I predict Lewis-Norris-Leclerc for the podium, with Max in 4th.

I noticed on the Leclerc/Perez lap comparison the F1 put out on YT that the Ferrari is much quicker in a straight line, somewhere around 0.1s-0.2s per straight. I guess Perez had quite a lot more downforce on to help in the rain and sector 2. Perez could easily get dropped in the race.

There's no comparison against Max's lap so I don't know if he went for a similar setup.

Not sure about Ferrari, even with Leclerc on pole. They're definitely 4th quickest - so I'd probably go for a Norris win, Piastri and Max making up the podiums.

Surely this is the opposite. Quali is sacrifical for max. If he's 11th or 15th doesn't make much difference as only difficulty he will have is the front of the field?

So focus on the race and in particular, areas for Overtaking vs lap time?

It's going to be harder for Max to get 1st but if race trim is good on the Redbull and tyre deg isn't as bad, he'll definitely get on the podium and probably get a win. Depends on the Mclarens. I don't think Ferrari/Mercs are going to be a problem for him.

Having a home buff adds speed too :D

Without any dramas or DNFs I imagine another McLaren 1, 2 with Max in third is likely (or at least the two mclarens and Max top 3 in some order)

Perez maybe 4th with Lewis and Charles fighting for 5th.

i hadn't noticed this before, usually becuase there's a gob-on-a-stick, or two, blabblng constantly, but it sounds a lot like an exhaust-blown diffuser in a few corners here. Weren't they banned?

This qualy was the third data point in a row comparing Lewis and George in the wet/changing conditions and Lewis beat him once again.

George's usual tenth or two advantage over Lewis in dry qualy evaporates (no pun intended) and instead seems to end up reasonably off the pace compared to Lewis.

Seems safe to say that this is an area George needs to work on if he wants to become truly great.

Going to be a tough one for perez.

In that car you'd expect a win or podium at least.

But in reality most of us are expecting verstappen to finish Infront of him.
He won't be able to hide behind the excuse of "I had a bad quali but I made up loads of places."

If he's not fast enough he'll go backwards.

Big day

Surprising for a British driver, they’ve usually had a lot of experience in the rain.
