Hungaroring Circuit - Information

The Hungaroring, built in 1985, was ready for racing in just nine months. Initially, the Hungarian government considered reviving the old Nepliget park circuit in Budapest for Formula 1, but ultimately decided to create a purpose-built facility.

The first Grand Prix at the Hungaroring took place in 1986, with Nelson Piquet winning the race after a memorable overtake on Ayrton Senna.

The circuit is often compared to a karting track due to its lack of straights and series of corners. Teams use high levels of downforce similar to Monaco, and a well-sorted chassis is crucial for success. Drivers enjoy the challenge of finding a good rhythm to set fast lap times.

Visiting the Hungaroring in July means hot weather, but there's a nearby water park, the Mogyorodi Aquarena, to cool off. The circuit is also just 20km from Budapest, offering access to one of Europe's most vibrant city centers.

For the best viewing experience, the grandstands on or around the main straight provide views of multiple parts of the track, thanks to the natural bowl-like setting, similar to the UK's Brands Hatch.

Just a reminder, but consider it a warning - can we not have any further derogatory name calling of drivers, team bosses and the like. We don't expect you to like every driver/team, but at least keep comments respectful.

If you don't follow this warning, you will lose access to the race thread and the thread for the following race as well.

This includes but is not limited to such terms including Lulu, Crashstappen, Karen Horner, Whingey Spice etc.

I'm looking forward to this one. I don't think Merc will be up there still but it would be nice to see if the Mclaren's and Red Bulls are still close.

Also, in the nicest possible way I'd prefer another terrible performance from Sergio Perez so that Red Bull have to do something about his seat. Lets be honest, he can't be enjoying himself getting absolutely roasted every race weekend and its only going to get worse for him if the Red Bull starts getting caught consistently by Merc and Ferrari too. On that note, Ferrari also need to do something as they've seemingly fallen off since Monaco...

Isn't this one usually dull?
It’s going to struggle to follow that last race regardless but looking up last years overtakes at least: There were 16 total overtakes of which 15 were shown live. :o

So surely the only way is up right? Considering the narrowing performance gap of the top cars. I’ll huff the copium for all of us. :D

I'd also like to see Ferrari bounce back a bit to keep them in the mix. I agree about Perez as well, I think the best thing that can happen for F1, is that he keeps doing terribly, to force a driver change for Redbull. It would be better if there was a clear number 2 constructor, but they have all shared the points about quite a bit so the gap is still manageable.

I put a fiver on Lewis in December to win one (or more) races this year, got £6.67 back on that and have put a fiver on Lewis to be on the podium this weekend.
After the boost of winning at Silverstone, Hamilton has to have regained his mojo and should do well if Mercedes can put a decent car under him this weekend.
