But they could have denied it maybe. Im sure they get requests for visits by a million “slebs” every race. He’s no President currently, just a pleb like everyone else. Why accept a visit from a criminal with a history/allegations of sexual assault, who already made one attempt at starting a civil war and very well might succeed the next time. Meh. Too serious for this thread.

Maybe they can deny it, maybe not - we'll need to ask the FIA. Like it or not even ex-Presidents get a ridiculous amount of deference and status in the USA

If the FIA stopped everyone with a criminal record or has been accused of a sexual assault from attending a GP, none of those NFL and NBA stars would be allowed in either.

People saying *** McLaren due to the ex president of the host country paying them a visit really need to get off twitter and go outside . I wonder how many have the same ethical red line when human right abusers from the ME are hosted by team leadership...hmmm.

Anyway, absolutely stoked for McLaren and Lando, I've been a fan of the recent McLaren team (basically since Lando), so it's an awesome result! Who knows maybe the lack of grip Max was complaining about might bleed in to the rest of the season and keep things vaguely interesting, doubtful but fingers crossed!

Its a good point; isn't McLaren at least partly Bahraini owned now?

Trump wasnt just accused of sexual assault , he was found liable/guilty for it by a jury.

But yeh, I get your point. Max's Dad wouldn't be allowed there if that was the case.

unfortunately Trump has cost Mclaren a lot of fans for being there even though they didnt have a choice and of course he has to take credit for the win

Mclaren didn't publicise it, it wasn't on any of their socials and they were randomly selected by the FIA to host the visit. When they were told the PR team probably went into a damage limitation mode.

It was probably some FIA intern going 'Lol he's orange, send him to the orange team'.

So if Lando did luck out with the safety car, how then did he fall back 7s to Norris??

Lando beat him on pure pace, Hamilton was all over Perez.
Lando didn't luck out. Max lost race pace to lando and he had what? 15 odd laps to try to overtake him at the restart?

Who here actually believes lando was lucky to win? Let me guess. A max fan?

Difficult to tell unless you work inside the team.

Max might have been slightly faster but possibly wasn't worth the risk in burning out the tyres; it's not like he wasn't leading most of the race albeit with a smaller gap than we're used to seeing.

Same with Lewis vs Perez; yea he was close, but Perez had plenty space in front to manage the gap and tyres. The race is usually a resource management game.

Wasn't the gap 33sec+ before the safety car? Even Lando said he probably wouldn't have won without it because he would have had to overtake 2 Ferrari's, Oscar and possibly Perez.

There does some seem some salt here

To add, Verstappen only won his first race because the then dominant Mercs took each other out…..

Lando won fair and square - let him have this without crying

It was 11 seconds when the safety car was called - but 30 seconds at the point that Lando entered the pits; he would likely have come out in the lead anyway as it was roughly 9 seconds for a pit stop
