We asked rules expert Beat Zehnder what happens if no qualifying session can take place before the race. The Sauber team manager tells us that the FIA stewards can then decide on the procedure themselves because this case is not explicitly listed in the sporting regulations. Either the result of the last session - i.e. the sprint - is taken or the drivers are sorted according to the current world championship standings.
Yeah, I'm really not sure why they didn't realise at that point. Norris got a lot of hate at the time for how reluctant he was to give the place back but I bet he will wish that he didn't if it ends up coming down to a 7 point gap.Whilst I'd like Norris to win the title (a long shot now), part of me would like him to lose by 7 points so McLaren get punished for their stupidity in Hungary.
I mean come on. Why have they only realised that Norris could win the title now?
Alarm set
0730 local Qualifying, 1230 race.
So 1030 and 1530 for UK times.
Using any FP session would be a joke.Surely they can't use fp1? That's ridiculously ridiculous.
How can there not be a regulation for this when there is for every other eventuality?
Surely SQ is the right session to use?

Sprint qualy or race result would be fine as they’re indicative of pace.
Hopefully all of this will be academic and we get a proper quali session tomorrow.

Moist. It's currently raining. Doesn't look like much let up for the next 12 hours or so.Anyone know what the track is like this morning? Weather websites seem to suggest some rain soon, but not as heavy as later. Also 3mm of rain during the 3 hour window of the race.
Hard to visualise but would 1mm an hour be raceable?
