I quite like the timing of this although knowing my boss he’ll decide to harass me on Friday evening. But I’m thinking of cooking tacos or something on Saturday, so get that all prepped, sit down with a case of beers and some chips and guacamole and off we go. Thanks Ramadan.

Enjoying the Saturday races as well, felt Wierd to have a full day off after the race this Sunday.

Hope this isn't as boring as Bahrain.

At least this one has far more walls to make mistakes and crash into. Hopefully we at least get a bit of drama/some safety cars to spice things up a bit (obviously not advocating for anyone to get hurt, just some mild crashes/retirements would be good).

Last race was the first one in 20+ years I missed live and caught the 'highlights'. Can't see much of a draw to be bothered watching this one either.
I think we need to be honest. RB’s race pace is always better than their qualifying so unless anyone else gets pole with 0.5sec on Max then we know who’s going to win. Barring any mistakes, safety cars or crashes etc.

This really was the take home.
Perez was fairly perezy and still got second. Max would have to be out of the top 10 without mechanical issues to think about a different winner.
. Even then.. People would wave him through.

I don't think Max even showed a lot of his real pace.

Look at the fastest laps (and interestingly top speed as well..)

1.5 seconds clear of the next fastest lap and 2 secs quicker than 75% of the grid..

3mph higher top speed compared with everyone else too interestingly.

If that isn't immensely ominous (and depressing) I don't know what is.

I know Leclerc was struggling and the Mercs had overheating issues, but that's a massive deficit which I don't think either of those things would make up.

Mostly you control a race when you're leading with minimal stress on the car. Once he'd got a pit stop on everyone he also had more options.

It's still a colossal gap though regardless of that. All the others weren't right up the chuff of another car the whole race either.

I know it's Saudi and there are numerous reasons to not race here but in reality, it's actually a pretty decent track for F1 and also has a danger factor to it which is somewhat at odds with modern F1. Moar wall, Moar safety car and F1 needs safety cars to keep things interesting.

It will be interesting to see how Perez does. He is considerably better on street circuits whilst Max doesn't seem get on with them as much as he does normal tracks. That said you'd be mad to not back Max going into the weekend.
