************ Official 39XX Overclocking Thread ************

Oh yes, it's 100% fine OCed to 4.5GHz, and seems OK at 4.6GHz (but somehow feels not quite right somehow).

But I didn't spend all this money and time to run it at "just" 4.5GHz :D

Hibernate works fine for me, so I can hope that they will somehow fix the issue in a future BIOS update.

I am 99% sure that I have my system running how I am happy, whilst still being stable, with the 3930K at4.7GHz with 1.32V and my 7970's at 1100/1725 with 1.118V.

I do have some more stability testing to do, but I am pretty sure it's spot on now.

Ok, I need to get my fan noise down, but that will be a quick and easy job. Well, apart from the reference 7970's, but that will only be in-game, so not too much bother.

Am curious about seeing if I can push to 5GHz with HT off.

Losing HT won't really bother me. The processor is already way overkill for anything i am currently doing.

Hell, and OCed 2500K was already far more than I needed :D

An idea for another day though.

I just want to enjoy using it for a while now.

When I get bored, in the not too distant future I imagine, I will give it a whirl.

Hi,

These are the voltages whilst running Prime95. All on auto except CPU voltage, with auto LLC

VTT is way high!

Set for 1.15!!! ASAP! Try not to go over 1.2.

VCCSA is a little high

Set for 1.225 and see how you get on.

pll is quite high too.

drop to around 1.85V - that should be fine for 4.5

Think I might finally have tracked down the cause of my bsod after resuming from sleep with high OC.

Actually, I thought it was fine using sleep at 4.5GHz, so decided to drop my clocks, but had the same happen at that clock.

Only thing I changed this time was to disable hyperthreading.

Have now resumed from sleep twice and set ibt off running very high and no bsod!

The bsod would always happen in seconds, so I am sure this is the issue.

But do I blame the board or the cpu?

That didn't help...

am trying it removing the very few things I have installed.

Removed the logitech solar app, no luck.

Am currently trying with ms security essentails removed....

Was going well.

but.... have been doing my testing today with most everything on auto, just manually set voltage and upped the turbo to 47

I put it back on my previous 4.7 OC, tried and failed.

I had saved the auto one had been testing with, so loaded that up again, and seems like might be ok again.

So perhaps, as stable as it seemed, there is just a particular combination of settings I was using somewhere it didn't like...

Man, this is the most difficult ssetup I have ever tried to get running!

Posted in the mobo section but seems to be full of z77 threads. I need a new mobo as my msi board has developed a intermittent dimm slot problem, so it's off for rma. I liked the board a lot but miss the asus way, so will use the opportunity to switch. Think i'm going to go for a rampage formula over the extreme as it has better onboard sound, costs less and will clock just as well as the extreme from what i have seen, anyone have experince of both boards?

Think I bloody well found it!

On resuming from sleep, the pll would be reset to 1.8V - so usually 1.78V under load.

This would happen whether the pll was set to auto or manually set.

There was a BIOS posted on the ROG forums recently, that addresses this. Though, if pll is on auto, the problem still occurs.

Manually set, it thankfully keeps the setting after resume.

What's annoying is that I looked for this before, using HWInfo64. The problem is that the drop on pll voltage was not instant, meaning I had looked away before it dropped!

Going to have to re-learn all my OC settings now, cause I have already determined my memory won't run at the same settings as the other BIOSes :(

Still, at least I know the bloody problem is!
