**Official 3D Mark 11 scores**

Damn, seems the best my card can do is 1150/1550 stable :(
Even if i raise the volts to 1.3 and play with the memory volts i just can't get 1200/1600 stable enough, can get through 3dmark but crashes on games etc
In fact raising the volts seems to make things worse and seems to crash quicker :(
Is it normal for the system to just black screen and require a hard reset from overclocking?
My ASIC is 66.6%.
Beginning to think maybe a problem either with the card or perhaps my psu isn't up to the job.
Handled my 6870 crossfire setup well though (Corsair CX600)

The PSU should be fine, for reference.
My rig:
3770k @4.6Ghz (1.24v)
7970 @1225/1725 (1300mv) takes 450w from the wall, that's with a lot of fans, harddrives, pumps etc. (also a second 7970 doing nothing, CF disabled)

Are you sure your temps are ok? VRMs for one, 1300mv is a lot, and will quickly heat those buggers up, when overvolting keeping an eye out for just core temps doesn't really give you an idea on overall card performance.

Just check VRM temps on a session on bf3, max was 60c max -core temp was 60c, so temps aren't the problem.
I then decided to put my cpu back at stock, 3.6 stock volts etc, which resulted in no crashes but a drastically reduced frame rate, went from 70+fps on ultra to 30-40.
Still can't get above 1150/1600 stable though, no matter what volts i put through it.
May DSR the card and put the extra towards a brand new one.

If putting the CPU down to stock causes no crashes, maybe take another look at your CPU overclock and adjust the voltage/clock.

BF3 online with that CPU paired with that GPU will be quite a substantial bottleneck., so BF3 will be an ideal stress test.

You have answered your own question there really.Bulldozer especially overclocked takes a lot from your system and really pushes everything to its limits hence when running stock cpu it doesn't crash.

Have you got another pc you can test the card in , i'm only asking as it sounds like your looking to go through the rma process when its not needed.

Cheers danny,
Decided to keep the card now, temps all seem fine and the overclocking of it isn't that bad really, like you said, it's giving me a good gpu score on 3dmark11.
Just going to upgrade the rest of the system to fit in with the card.

Well spotted ^^ i put one module in the wrong slot and as been since corrected, to be honest there isn't that much difference.

Your graphics score is over 12000 and thats the one that counts.:)

Kaapstad. What's your single card GPU score like with the Matrix Platinums? I've noticed mine is low compared to others at the same or lower clocks than mine. For instance, i need to go over about 1260MHz core to get 12 past 12K on the graphics score and check out above..

I don't think they run as well on X79, I have also noticed this with GTX 690s.

Heres a link for me getting just over 12000 (not good)

Below is my best effort. (also not good)

What does seem to improve things a bit is running a bclk of 129 I did this the other day and improved my 2 card score.

At a bit of a lose end this afternoon so thought I'd see what I could get out of the 13.1 drivers. Was able to get more out of the memory, probably could have gone higher but once I'd broken the 20,000 graphics barrier it was job done :D

i7 3820 @ 4.3Ghz
16Gb DDR3 1800Mhz Quad Channel
2x 7970's @ 1115 core/1650 mem - (Sapphire Dual-X OC @ stock volts)

Just noticed that 3D Mark is only reporting 2GB of memory for one of my cards and 1GB for the other. Some quirk of crossfire

Edit: Looking at a few other scores, it must be. Got a way to catch this person! http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5383909

Sadly no but if that kind of score was shown, I would want to see more details before adding. It could be LN2 cooled cards though, so maybe genuine.
