**Official 3D Mark 11 scores**

Windows 8.1 and 13.11 Beta 8 will have you ridiculing Gregs water cooled titan and that is something we all want to see. :D :p

Yeah 8.1 gives a nice boost on firestrike over windows 7.

I'm on win 7 and beta 7. I have beat his 3dmark 11 graphics score by 441 points. A guy called dampmonkey over on another forums has score of 19300+! I hope I reach that with PT3 bios but that's for another day

When I get home I will install win 8.1 pro, and beta 8 then run some benchmarks and see if the gap gets wider. Then in the next few days I will flash bios to PT3 from the stock bios and see what I get then :-)

8.1 doesn't have many updates to install but make sure you do those first prior to and after installing Beta 8. Think there are some visual C updates after installing beta 8 via windows update.

Cheers for the info. RAID SSD's and 120mb down shouldn't take too long :-)

Edit: oh how do I disable that ULPS?

Wait wut? This is something I want to see you do Matt!!! Never mind you jumping on everyone elses glory, be a man and do it yourself :D

Added Doug :) Don't worry about the SS's for GPU-Z.

How much difference is there in scores between the last set of i5s and i7s with a like for like high to top end GPU? I'm thinking my new 780 is being held back a little.

I would say that 3570K at 4.3 wouldn't hold back a 780 but that is just my guess in truth. Maybe a little at max but not anything I would say that is noticeable.

Graphics score seems good but I think it's my physics score bringing things down a bit due to being an i5 and not a high clock currently - P12424 on stock volts and don't think card is maxed yet on default.

It's more the stability. But then again last night after all upgrade the room was roasting. I will bench tonight with the same environment and go from there. My CPU performance in 3dmark 11 was a few bit slower

So far win 8.1 and beta 8 has decreased my performance over win 7 beta 7. I run some tests tonight and see where it is at

I got a 2k drop going from Win7 to Win8. All I did was reinstall Win7 and my scores came back up. Whereas on Firestrike I got + 500 in Win8.

That's with Nvidia cards.

I'm trying Win8.1 with a few benches atm.......if I can get the hang of the 8.1 menus and 'Apps' system that is  .

So different benchmarks are benefiting from W8.1 over W7 and vice versa.

My main game is BF4 and after reading about it seems 8.1 gives a large FPS boost over Win7.

I am finding it difficult to get the hang of the new menu! But i must say I like how fast it is.

I may hold off on benchmarking at the moment and just find a nice gaming overclock and wait until a full driver release comes. Not that these cards need overclocking for gaming! Its on a waterblock so might as well get the most out of it.

Oh I notice some people using liquid Ultra on the 290x water block, i have some LU but i used MX4. What would you recommend out of the two. I ust didnt fancy UL all over the block tbh.

I used liquid pro once on my 7970,was terrible, just too thin temps were way above normal so stuck some regular mx4 and it was fine

I think liquid pro/ultra is just too thin for gpu coolers/waterblocks it cant make good enough contact like something thicker mx4 ect

ohh and use start8 to fix the start menu ect, makes it the same as win7 on win8
