So different benchmarks are benefiting from W8.1 over W7 and vice versa.

My main game is BF4 and after reading about it seems 8.1 gives a large FPS boost over Win7.

I am finding it difficult to get the hang of the new menu! But i must say I like how fast it is.

I may hold off on benchmarking at the moment and just find a nice gaming overclock and wait until a full driver release comes. Not that these cards need overclocking for gaming! Its on a waterblock so might as well get the most out of it.

Oh I notice some people using liquid Ultra on the 290x water block, i have some LU but i used MX4. What would you recommend out of the two. I ust didnt fancy UL all over the block tbh.

I used LU on a couple of 3770s that I delidded and it definitely made a difference but I've stuck to MX4 on my GPUs.....not too sure of the benefits of LU........as in, I'm not too sure :) .

Ah I see.
<--- Knows nothing about i7 4700k atm :)

So this turbo feature, is it within the specifications of the CPU? (I.e. its not a permanent overclock, but its a boost of speed which can be applied when required?)

What is the threshold? And how do you control the threshold?

It is within the spec of the chip and no idea about what the threshold is. It will sit at a very low idle clock and when needed, it jumps into action.

I would ignore that personally and aim for a 4.4Ghz-4.6Ghz everyday clock with a decent after market cooler :)

It's only 3.9Ghz on low threaded applications, 1-3 threads maximum i think??
So it wasn't running 3.9Ghz during the Physics test, only whilst getting the information loading up your web link, hence it showing 3.9Ghz on there!

Very little point in overclocking via the turbo, might as well overclock all cores at the same time.
