**Official 3D Mark 11 scores**

the 950 came up at a good price plus i can get a bit back for my 920 ( c0 version ) when i sell it soon & the temps are cooler too due to the 950 needing less volts what is good, i will clock it to 4 Ghz in the next few days as i have sorted out my watercooling now :).

hmm quite nice. but probably not worth the few hundred pounds for a few more points. and i assume the 950 would be less of a difference still :(

On the run above my memory was clocked quite high @1866 with tight timmings. In theory an i7 920, 950, or 975 should all perform the same clock for clock.

ah that could be it. im at 1600 cl8. mainly because the gaming benches showed no improvement over that.

doesnt your extreme edition come with more cache though?

I don't think so. The only differences are the unlocked multiplier and the QPI runs @6.4 rather than @4.8 but that makes no difference to performance.

I get similar numbers to you for physics if I run the memory @1600 cl8.

Heres some old runs I made when I was testing out a HD 5970

Currently on a 920 that does 4.2ghz, also have a 930 in a second rig that clocks to 4.3ghz on lower volts than the 920. However though the 930 based rig only has an 8800gt in it compared to the gtx 670 in the 920 rig. Still pretty impressive though how the older cpu's perform in the likes of 3d mark.

+1

With hyperthreading the i7 9xx CPUs still have a lot in them.

the reason i havent upgraded.

almost went for a 3930k and rampage IV but really.. in games theres no difference. but i would like it for the 3d mark score. hehe

Making the move to ib this weekend, (3570k). It'll be replacing the 920 that i use as my gaming rig. Ill still be keeping the 930 based machine though. Fancied trying a newer platform tbh.
