**Official 3D Mark 11 scores**

They are decent coolers with a good rep but you can't beat a good custom water cooled loop. I intend on staying with this build for a couple of years unless the next gen of GPU's bring something special to the gaming front. The CPU will last me a few years at least :)

+1

Another benefit of using a custom water cooled loop is the lower vcore you can use because of the lower temps. 1.495 you use is a lot better than 1.55 I have to use.

I can't seem to get it to go above the +100mv. I followed instructions to the tee as well :( I am doing something wrong but I will suss it.

You leave the voltage offset slider in Afterburner alone, further voltage bumps are done via artmoney. Quite a few discussing it in this thread at HWBOT: http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49807. Just so you know the 680 Lightning uses the same voltage regulators as the GB680SOC (monster thing with 5 fans).

I really wish there was such open discussion about the 7970 Lightning, all I can find for sure is that the LN2 bios is hard locked to 1.8v, soft locked to 1.35v. In theory I need to by-pass the soft lock....but how is going to involve a lot of begging on hwbot & XS.

Not what I've read...

p.s. I'm not sure how an unreleased chip can have a huge advantage over another unreleased chip but OK :D

The rumour mill must be going ten to the dozen there.

+1

I have read some about Haswell being about 10% improvement over standard IB for CPU performance which for practicle use is next to nothing.

I have read absolutely nothing about Haswell-E (I would not be surprised if it does not even get released as the improvements in Haswell are to do with things like integrated graphics which has no place in an extreme system).

Haswell-E will be a huge advantage over it hopefully, normal Haswell should be a noticeable improvement on Ivy

I have been reading up a fair bit prior to me getting the 3930K chip and Haswell is predicted to give a ~10% perfomance increase over the current IVY chips (like for like), with more emphasis placed on the IGPU and performing better than the current IGPU's. I see this chip aimied more so towards laptops and tablets to be honest but all in all it is still rumours, although I did watch the Q&A with Intel Reps and this was hinted at.

Ok did a quick overclock, dunno if stable but set my 2570k to 1.2v and 42 turbo multi to get 4.2ghz. Prime for 17 mins and then did the 3dmark.

Hmm i expected a tad more, maybe the higher scores for 560ti 448s are using overclocked gfx cards which tbh i didnt think was allowed.

Yeah it's allowed, at least this gives you a base to overclock from? (if you're going to overclock that is! Cant let no 560ti beat you :P)

Turn Aero off as well, will give you a few more points on Physics.

I did turn it off.

Tbh i would have liked it if the gfx cards were all stock at least then i could compare it better stock for stock against mine. Or at least 2 diff results one overclocked one stock which would also help everyone see what boost a oc would do. Personally tho i dont plan on overclocking my gfx card at least not for awhile because i have yet a need to because all the games i play, sto, arma2 ace mod, world of tanks, all play really nice at max settings (well arma 2 not quite max but max enough for me).

Don't take this as gospel :p
I would say the vast majority of people overclock for fun and for bigger scores in these types of threads. They're are a few people who overclock to keep an older card alive a few more months before they can afford/want to get an upgrade, sure. Most do it because they can, and for fun :D

That's what i do anyway.

3dmark11 and benching in general isn't about stock performance though, its about pushing your system to the limit to hit the highest possible score. If you want to view stock performance scores then check something like the anandtech bench suite, pretty sure they test 3dmark11 as part of their standard GPU bench tests.

tonester dont get me wrong i know about overclocking cards i had my 460 1gb at 800mhz stable which i gave to my brother well sold him it as well as most of my old system due to new system i was building.

When games start struggling i will overclock probably the gfx card but for now i dont have to. I was interested in the results tho for to compare like for like in this topic. Its a shame most are overclocked systems tho. I know why most do it to get the higher scores but still it would be nice to compare like for like if possible to see if ones own system was lacking in a area which then you could seek help for to get it to where it should or could be.

That's a hard argument to sell on "Overclockers UK" forum :D.

Lol probably.

I probably wouldnt be complaining as much if you can call it that :) if the first page results showed the gfx card timings of core and mem and shaders like the cpu is shown at what clock its at. Least then i can easily see if someone elses 570 is clocked better than mine or not or if a 560ti is heavily overclocked etc.

Maybe somit to consider tho it would mean for the OP to scan all the posts and update the OP with the info presuming users posted the gfx cards overclocking timings. Edit - But i know this wouldn't happen because not everyone would have posted there timings. Maybe for the next 3d mark topic it can be a requirement?

Aye i didnt expect anyone to do it just that it could have been nice if it was a requirement initially. Maybe for the next 3d mark topic. :)

I guess if the topic is still around next year and i need to do a bit of a oc on the gfx card and cpu ill come back and post the results. I know my gainwaird phantom 570 should technically be great for overclocking but i have heard some stories about how difficult they can be to overclock especially with news on some blowing up or just cant be pushed for some reason or another maybe somit to do with volts i dunno. Tho i havent volt modded anything before so wouldnt wana try anyhow. All i did on the 460 was up the core and the memory a tiny bit to get 800/2000 instead of 730 or somit and 1900 using afterburner.

I didn't want this thread to be 'Strict' with rules and posting screenshots of everything. If the peeps who submit wish to add clocks of everything, then that is cool. I feel you/we can deduce from scores that someone with an I5 @ 4.6 and a 7950 let's say and another person has an I5 @ 4.6 and also a 7950 but scores 1000 points more, then that person has a decent over clock and I would be asking/looking at what clocks.

Maybe when the next 3Dmark comes out, it will be compulsory to show pics of clocks and a link and when I do the scores, I will link them to the post with the submitted scores. I would do that now but I don't fancy going through and realising that the score had changed around 10 times :(

All good suggestions are welcomed though :)
