Its difficult finding the right balance with this CPU, it overclocks via the FSB with only the Bus and memory multipliers unlocked. its a bit clumsy. you can't get the ideal balance of clock speed and memory speed, clock the CPU to high and you have to lower the memory to much or it gets to high, it takes it in chunks of 2x, what good is that? and then you have equate that into the QPI link...

I think i'm finding it, @ 3.9Ghz it scores slightly higher than weldon855's @ 4.2, so i'm happy, but my P-II x6 was much much better for overclocking.

All scores updated and I think I have done everything ok. As usual, let me know if I have made an error and I have changed your CPU to 4.2 Stanners.

Well done guys and keep them coming. The Green team have been top of the charts for the last 9 months and I feel it is now time for the reds to strut there stuff :)

Newhit scores over 93% more than your 7870 on GFX Scores and over a 100% on overall scores ;):p:D WHEN I get beaten, I don't care and will be back.

Newhit's GPU cost £800 +, mine cost £170 and according to your charts has beaten a few 670's and a 680 or two :p:D

Well spotted Humbug, Haswell is about 10% more efficient than SB-E and about 210% more efficient than any AMD CPU.:D:p:eek::D

Its a Skt 1366 Bloomfield, Haswell is much more efficient, yes i know that, but look at my Physics score compared to Ivy Bridge / Haswell i5's at 4.4/4.5Ghz, its faster, all be it only by a bit, plenty of fight left in this old croak yet.

As for AMD CPU's, Meh.... Steamroller is a coming, apparently they fixed all the decoder bottlenecks, we should be looking at +30% IPC. touch wood.

Well, I'm not playing with you boys and your shiny expensive toys, but down the bottom end...

All air cooled.

SCORE 1890
Graphics Score 1955 (HD 5750 @ 850/1375)
Physics Score 7042 (i5 750 @ 3.8)
Combined Score 807

Replaced the GPU and got:

SCORE 4875
Graphics Score 5637 (HD 7850 @ 1200/1353)
Physics Score 5946 (i5 750 @ 3.2)
Combined Score 2136

Should be able to do better overall as the CPU is clocked much lower in that second result, was only really looking at the GPU but still, a nice wee jump for me.

I happily game on a I5 and a 6970 on my Mrs computer. It feels just as playable as a Titan and a 3930K, so doesn't matter what it cost, so long as you enjoy it :)

I don't think we will be seeing anything red at the top of the Valley charts at any price for a while.:D

I have tried a couple of times to get higher than what I have on those bench's but can't stop the throttling. Even with LLC, it still throttles. My score would be a fair bit higher if it would stay at the clocks I set  I am pretty sure it is a power thing, as chucking 450w+ through 300w designed power, isn't the best :D

My final with this Titan

Hope I'm not causing any bovver here. I just enjoy the benching and had some cash put by........OK, maybe a bit too much in the scheme of things.......... But I'm not much of a gamer these days..........but hey........Maybe 290X here I come and BF4 next..........maybe;)

Wish I knew how some peeps get past 13k with a single card, on this bench, without cold applied.

Anyway...........
