Those ref cards are a little mincey in my opinion. I was expecting massive overclocks but it just doesn't seem to be happening anywhere. The Classy or custom cards with decent voltage control will be good but like the 290X/780 Ti, I am very underwhelmed.

That makes two of us. Heat becomes a factor before most things TBH. I reckon with lower temps and similar voltage I could hit close to 1300mhz, but as the temps rise the card spits clocks back at you that it was fine with 20 minutes ago lol. Which is why I'm stuck at 1235. Still, that is a huge overclock in fairness. But not enough :D. I think a few owners are a bit underwhelmed also given the few results we've had.

ill get this right in a minute lol

i did use afterburner, what would be causing this?

Try this, go into settings on afterburner, and select disable ulps, tick extend official overclocking limits. And lastly, select unofficial overclocking, WITHOUT powerplay support and hit apply.

Make sure you set your fan speed to 100% and use your best overclock.

Rerun the benchmark.

Recently I have been doing a bit of benching, I have found that results in 3Dmark programs don't pick up my CPU overclock. My firestrike and other graphic scores seem lower than others of a similar spec, may main concern is the CPU overclock not showing though.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/1790116

There it shows Reported stock core clock 3,400 MHz and Maximum turbo core clock 1,600 MHz. However I am overclocked to 4,500 MHz. Here is a quick screenie of my CPU performance under Prime. This shows the overclock is working but not on firestrike tests...

Has anyone any idea why the CPU overclock doesn't show in the 3Dmark result link above? I have had results where it has shown quite some time ago.

Try making sure powerlimits are set to max for the card, first, set the powerlimit to 50% in afterburner, then apply your overclock.
Next go into ccc and the performance tab, set the powerlimit to 50% in here also. Hit apply.

Rerun tests.

It was only through digging about for a few weeks that i can across the fix for the low physics score that i suggested.

I can't for the life of me understand why changing the powerstate of the GPU would help the CPU out, it's extremely annoying.

Could you post some pics of your afterburner settings and CCC settings? see if i can spot something amiss.

done quite a few more runs and since changing those settings the graphics score has dropped as you can see above, but the physics looks better.

i have restarted a few times yes, wonder if asus gpu tweak is hindering msi afterburner for some reason? but i get even better graphics score with asus gpu tweak.

pics on way

when i set the power limit in msi afterburer to +50 and apply it, shut it down and restart msi afterburner and the setting isnt being remembered any more.

Uninstalled both gpu tweak and msi afterburner and then installed msi afterburner alone and its still doing the above?
