*** Official 5850 Benchmark/Performance Thread ***

Proven already. I have seen many people with the MSI afterburner getting 1000Mhz which is 30% already. And that works on any card as well.
but it seems the voltage tweaker in MSI afterburner doesn't work on sapphire 5850.

it ups the UVD clock voltage . not the 3d clock voltage.

the big question is where or when, will there be a new bios..

how as afew people got they 5850 up at 1ghz?

From Sapphire? maybe never unless they release an overclock/overvolted card themselves later and you flash that bios to it.

What I meant by bios flash, is that people are using the Asus 5850 to flash their cards which ups the limits in CCC and allows MSI to set the max volts of 1.35v.

if i could find a Asus 5850 bios i would flash that on my card, but i can't find it anywhere..

Someone send me there 5850 bios and i will modify it and give it bigger ccc limit,
but there is no garantee that ccc would work

but you could test if it doesnt you could flash back lol

I see the problem now. I hadn't realised that it wasn;t in general circulation yet. All the cards I saw which had being flashed with the Asus bios are performing very wel, the best I;ve seen is 1050 core and 1300 memory

Interesting that the limit of voltage on the 5850 is 1.4v compared to 1.35v on the 5870 which might explain the better overclock on the 5850.

Hunting around, there are lots of posts on forums saying the bios will be posted up in the next day or so. Guess it's a waiting game.

I can't wait to have my 5850 running at 1050/5200 under water. ;):D

UPDATE:

for all you 5850 users

MSI has released 5870 Bios that does clocks 1800 core 2600 memory bios that has been modified with the ATI software that signs the digital hash.

the same guy posted in the thread

*We used ATI official tool that provide to AIB to modifiy the BIOS setting and BIOS is digitally signed by ATI, sorry the tool can't be released publicly. And yes, we will apply it to MSI 5850 (also 2nd shippment of 5870, and future 5700 series).

We haven't receive mass production bios of 5850, I will release it once I have it.*

so guys just chill and relax you will be getting your 5850 MSI bios soon that you can flash to your cards with unlocked CCC limits and digitaly signed :D

what block are you going to use for water cooling?

Whoever gets one out first! Probably EK though but to be honest there isn't much in them as far as cooling goes.

18th October is the earliest I have seen for a full cover block.

cheers - tempted to use my dtek block (general gpu cover) and some ram sinks but nothing about to cover the voltage regs yet (got a 4890 heatsink for them!)

RBE 1.22 does.
Reading the bios is not the same as successfully writing the signature, I wouldn't use it until the author is happy with it , unless you've seen it work?

I'm feeling quite philosophical now about being stuck in Germany while my 5850 is sat at home waiting for me. Seems like there'll be more tools available for me to clock it with by the time I get home.

Looking forward to bolting my EK supreme acetal to it on Saturday after seeing the moderate temps people are getting with the stock cooler.

Never flashed a gpu bios before though so I'll need to read up on that tomorrow.

it seems like the 5850 is slower than 2 4850..

on Resident Evil 5 i got 92.4 FPS at 1920x1200 DX10 , FIXED, with 2 4850

same settings with a 5850 only gets 78.5 FPS..

i'm really hoping its the drivers.
