***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews and benches inside)

Just noticed this from OcUK's review site:

"It weighs about the same as a house brick and is just as heavy, so make sure you prepare for that. Also bear in mind that it exhausts a lot of hot air straight into the case, so you might want to add a fan or something."

WTF?

Well, thanks for the input mate. I'm glad I'm not the only one on these forums with this issue. I was concerned my GX2 might be knackered. However I really don't want to ditch my mainboard for an X48 as I invested in the 790i after it getting such rave reviews. And want the option of sli open to me.

I'm running Vista 64 and have installed the official 9.64 drivers. In fact yesterday I did a clean install with just 9.64 chipset drivers, 174.74 video, and VLC and was able to reproduce the issue.

If it's a motherboard driver issue then, I might try another clean install and use the newer drivers off Guru3d along with the new 175 series gpu drivers. What do you think ?
It seems to be a problem with directx, if you set vlc to use strict open gl mode it doesn't happen.

nvidia have recognised this problem and are working double time to fix it.
