****OFFICIAL AMD 6000 series overclocking and benchmark results thread****

Just tried the crysis benchie with all settings on DX10, "very high", 2xAA with a 6850 @830 core/ 1130 memory, res 1920 x 1080 with the system below in me sig and got 25.65 fps
Normal in game settings, with everything at medium and shaders, texture quality and object quality on "very high" but everything else the same, I get 45.6 fps average.
If someone can tell me how to do a screen shot I'll post it here.:)

I personally think that these cards would make a really nice Xfire setup meself, very quiet, very cool with reasonable performance provided Xfire scales well which apparently it looks like they do.

Ok here we go...

Firstly stock 6870 at 1080p dx11 everything else at default..

stock.jpg

Now as above but with gpu set to 980 and mem set to 1200

980_1200.jpg

and finally as above but with gpu at 1000 and mem at 1200

1000_1200.jpg

The last run needed the fan set manually as the auto profile didn't ramp it up fast enough to prevent it glitching otherwise.

Hopefully 1.1Ghz should be doable with a bit of voltage?

I think its probably doable now if you can find a way to unlock the overdrive limits and dont mind the fan ramped up to 100%.

I had a poke around with the bios earlier using the latest version of RBE but wasnt brave enough to flash it back again - I'll let some other fool try that first lol :D

ok found the AVP gui tool so running some benchmarks now.

For ref same settings as Andy on Heaven 2.1 and I get 37.1, that's with 5870@900/1250. Nice to see we have a £175-£200 ATI card ~ equalling the 5870

It's not quite equal but it's certainly within spitting distance when overclocked.

It's also not something that I am going to complain about considering I blagged one for £176 on release day. :)

I'm still confused - these benches are impressing me - but what should make me go 6870 instead of a 470 for 15 quid more (excluding power and heat which don't bother me at all)

Only you can answer that - if it seems a better deal then go for it.
I don't have an SLI capable motherboard so for me it was an easy choice - I can add an extra 6870 if needed but had I gone back to an nvidia card I would be a little more screwed.

Ok here are my sapphire 6870s in crossfire on stock clocks
