Not sure if its Socket or Packet, I might try HWmonitor if Coretemp is a bit erratic, I'll report back.
its package m8 or core temprature whatever you wanna call it

Small mod to my lady's upcoming rig ! Today the acrylic I ordered to change the window colour arrived. I had a orange one in there to match the Cougar fans but it didn't look right with white fans.. So I ordered this stuff.
It's new. UV reactive pink. It glows. Here is here stuff.
And with the new window fitted. I'm going to use the left over pink to make her a SLI bridge cover
It's going to be one heck of an 8 core rig when I'm done
Well done farmerboy, you are managing to achieve nice clocks and at low volts. Excellent setup.
I am now using prime95 to confirm what I saw on IBT. System seems stable but I think I have discovered a CHVFZ motherboard glitch and might have to RMA. I may live with it.
Although I am the poor man of the GPU pack with my XF 7770's I will have to see how they get on with BF4 before making any rash decisions on what to do next.
I thought the 7950 would have been my next progression, however now I am seeing the 7990 madness I think a 7970 or 290 will be the bar to aim at methinks.
So here is the 7990 I received today guys:
Very well built card and a lovely backplate. Here are some pics in the rig. This isn't a thing of beauty and the colour coordination was mainly determined by what fans I had left .
Here is the first 3DMark 11 run at only 4.6 GHz on the 8320 and the 7990 at bone stock. Pretty nice GPU score I think at over 18000. The CPU was being utilised at 100% at points in this so need to repeat this with it OCed to 5GHz + and check some results. The card is effortless. I haven't read up on how to overclock it or whether there are any custom bioses, but thermally, not an issue. Less than 57 C top temps at load. There is coil whine, but not annoying and they all do it.
When I get a chance, I will OC both the CPU and the GPU and also do some game benches.
Well done farmerboy. Yes core unpack seems to help.
Congrats on new PSU ad memory. Changing to an 860w plat certainly helped me.
FB, 7970 crashed after 30 sec of valley @ 1075mhz core. It made it through a bench run @ 1050mhz fine - obviously that doesn't mean it's stable at that speed.
Not much headroom at all then I think.
Yes, the resistor physically restricts the voltage. I'm not sure how many people have done it successfully... I was trying to sell mine and get a mat plat instead, but now I'm thinking a gtx780 or 290 if the prices are good. The gf can use the 7970 for simcity
What is the voltage farmerboy? Does it give you any play in that? I know the 7990 is a different kettle of fish but mine allows up to 1.3V max.
It is recognising the chip as Zambezi. Maybe it needs a bios update?
What temps are you getting under prime?
I had a wee look last night. Is aida64 available on a trial or do you have to pay?
