Official Amiga Retro Thread

Lol gotta love the voice overs in mega lo mania !, also helpful to have save states

" THE DESIGN IS READY "
" We've WON! "
" You're running out of elements "

Damn you Neil. :)

All this talk of Retro Bullfrog games reminded me how much I used to love playing the awesome Magic Carpet so now I'm going to have to go dig out my copy of it and play it again using DOSBox. I think it's down the shed.

So many games, so little time.

:D

There was an interview done some time back that said originaly Magic Carpet didn't have any people in it at all. But the developer said it has to have little people in it!, nearly every game he did it had to have little people in it

I preferred Populous 2 myself, I couldn't really get into Powermonger....

Nor could I, but i think that was because I didn't know what the hell i was doing!. I really did like the boxes that came with the amiga though, lots of detail, disks and cool manuals

I'm a beta tester for a certain amiga gaming site, you won't see amiga games ever again so it's not as if it will end up on steam :(

Here you go, one i've beta tested earlier this week and virus checked. Let me know how u get on, Pressing F12 during game and i think you can save states e.t.c

Brilliant!. How do you get it to work, integrate an emulator into the original code or something??

No idea I just beta test it to make sure it's working without any bugs, but unlike every other emulated game that isn't allowed on ocuk or roms. Amiga games will never be sold again and they are not for sale so i believe are freeware. Will check on that but if you need any other's just ask i'll see what they've done, so far upto 100 titles

You could post the link to the gaming site (or pm it to me if it's 'naughty' in some way to do so in this thread. hopefully not, I'm sure a lot of people would like to know the site).

Again, thanks for MLM!. My brother will be over the moon when i take it over on a memory stick & install it on his pc! :)

Edit to add hired gunz porn!

the way i always understood it is that software is only freeware when the original copywrite holders declare it to be, or after an extremely long time (longer than games have been around and at that point it wouldnt just be freeware but completly open source..) the most an amiga game that hasn't been otherwise declared as freeware i reckon would be abandonware which is not a proper legal term but a term invented to describe software that no one apparently cares about any more, but is still technically illegal to distribute, but whether the copywrite holder cares enough to press charges is another matter, but with gog.com and games like monkey island which was on the amiga being remade (games that have been labled "abandonware" before) etc you can't really say.

Thanks jamiehavok for that well thought out post!, glad i didn't post it here then :).

It is a shame though that companies don't release all amiga games as freeware because they were and still are amazing titles that so many people have never had the pleasure of playing. You can actually buy a software product called " amiga forever " but to be honest it's terrible, naf demos and cheap software to go with it. It's probably why they haven't sold much

That's one of my all time favourite games imo i'd rate it right up there with the classics of my generation
