Official Amiga Retro Thread

I don't think there has been a single bad game mentioned in this thread :D loved em all.

heres one of the best flight sims on the amia, this and F-19 Stealth Fighter were brilliant.

In fact it's been a long long time since i played a good flight sim, even on the pc. Will have to look into those :)

Meant to quote this earlier but was over come with nostalgia :D

The amiga back catalogue has the potential for masses of great remakes!

That is very very true, developers nowadays should take a look back in time to some of these outstanding games to remake, or at the very least for inspiration.

I bought an A1200 off the bay about six months since, seems i had a nostalga moment. When it arrived sadly it just felt old and poop.

/me dreams of the good ol days of Turrican 1/2 and Supremacy.

I tried this too and decided after about 20 mins that the memory's were better left preserved...

I have 2 Amiga favourites, well 1 very favourite and 1 really, really very favourite.
Number one goes to Tony Crowther's Captive (I didn't like Captive 2 though), one of the most brilliant sci-fi dungeon crawlers ever with thousands of levels. Still play it nowadays, off and on.
Number two would be Carrier Command. A remake of this could be mind-blowing!
Although the Amiga lost out when it never got a version of the Atari ST's Oids. That would go on the list, but this is an Amiga thread. Ho-hum.
It's also a shame that Midwinter 1 and 2 were just too hardware demanding at the time. That had great potential and someone should do a remake of those too.
Starglider 2 also deserves an honerable mention, as does DID's Inferno.

I have actually got two Amigas. An Amiga 2000 and an Amiga 1200 I converted to a tower.

I still say, even today, that if you want gameplay then it's still a viable platform. I did chuck a hard-drive in it and installed WHDLoad and that was it - I could then install all of my old disk based games to the hard-drive.

I still play it now and games such as Turrican 2, Kick Off 2, SWoS, Dungeon Master, Bloodwych are almost timeless and are as great to play now as they are then. The graphics aren't that bad to make it off putting.

Thinking about the games I played in the past I would love a re-make of Hunter. That would be superb on modern hardware.

Bullfrog didn't they also do Syndicate?

Then there is E.L.I.T.E and its sequel Frontier, epic space trading games imagine if something like that came out for PC now it would soooo awesome!

Bullfrog indeed did Syndicate :) an awesome game.

David Braben of Froniter still has an on and off ongoing Elite 4 project (6 yrs) that the world and his man are still waiting for.

X3 is due out for PC in Sept 11, but that is becoming more complex.

Would like to see an Elite based MMO, like the old Earth and Beyond from Westwood but done much better :). Not an Eve clone.

^^ Yeah I read about that somewhere but I thought the project had been scrapped? I really hope they bring back this classic game imagine how it would/could look now and all the things they do with it.

Now here is another nobody has mentioned IK+ (aka International Karate+) very simple game but seriously addictive, not to mention hilarious in places. I remember Civilization on it too and Darkmere which was like a D&D type thing which was good. Desert Strike, Jungle Strike the list goes on and on I sooo wish I still had mine :(
