*Official* Antec 1200 Case's,Builds,Modifications & FAQ's

I bought one of these, I liked it so much I got another :)

I've never had a case that I've been that bothered about running cables and all my PC's have looked like rats nests, it's a refreshing change to have a case that lends itself so easliy to being neat and tidy.

Sorry currently can't post pics as my digital camera bought the farm!

Am getting one of these for my new machine in a week or two, glad to see there's plenty of room and that the motherboard mounts are already in. Was just wondering if a 650W PSU would be enough to power my machine with the 5 case fans, Q6600 @ 3.0GHz+, 1 floppy drive/card reader, 2 SATA hdd, 2 SATA DVD-RW, an Asus P5Q-E motherboard and a Powercolor HD4870 X2 2048Mb graphics card..? Or will I need something with a bit more ooomph?

And there are loads of power supplies that support Sli but I can only find one that supports CrossfireX, but it's bloomin expensive and 750W. If at a later date I want to add another 4870 X2 will I need to buy a Crossfire supporting PSU or doesn't it matter..?

I'm looking at getting a 1200 as part of my system upgrade. I'll also be adding watercooling to my system, the OcUK extreme kit.

My system will have 1 DVD re-writer, 3 Hard drives & a floppy drive.

The WC kit comes with a single 5.25" bay res & a triple rad. I'm also thinking about getting a Scythe Karma pannel.

This will mean I'm taking up 7 of the 12 bays.

From what I can work out I'm going to have either mod the case to mount the rad at the top or mount it externally, is this right?

If this is the case then I'll have to mount it externally as I'm not really that confident on modding the case. So would I need any extras for this? I saw a swifttech rad mounting box on the site (link), would I need to use these for the external mounting? & would I need any additional fans or any other extras?

I've spent a fair bit of time lurking on these forums & I'm confident of getting the WC connected & set up. Its just the above problem of fitting the rad thats causing me some concern before I order, so any help & advice is greatly appreciated.

i am going to order this case and i am wondering ive seen some pictures with the psu the right way round and some upside down with the fan pointing up at the top of the case.does it matter what way you have your psu.thanks

IIRC, the case manual advises you to place it with the fan pointing up.

id do it withthe fan pointing down as this would be better for cable management, as the wires in a non modular and moduler (24/P4) comeout of the right side when the fan is down.

Just ordered a 1200 with other bits & peices for a system upgrade. Will hopefully be building it on thursday, so will make sure I get pics of the build & post them up

Its a fine case indeed, Will get some pics somtime soon,

Stage 1 : Get Antec1200 and bits, Complete
Stage 2 : Watercooling End of 2008
Stage 3 : Hardware upgrade 2Q 2009, Mobo, GPU, CPU, HDD.

I know some people seem to hate this case but I'm not one of them.

My current case is a Lian Li PC-6077 but it doesn't have 120mm fans and its too small for a water cooling system so I have ordered an Antec 1200.

It looks like it has good potential for modding, I love cutting up new cases :D

I'll be getting rid of that awful half meshed side and putting in my own window probably with a stenciled graphic like I did with my current case.

I have seen this done on youtube, http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RSMkrUSUB3w, I would attempt this but I may balls it up. I'm happy with the current window for now, its not perfect with the mesh and the metal curving out but still rather nice. Has anyone tried mounting a dual rad on the back, would like to now how hard/easy it is?

I just got a 1200 and was wondering how easy it would be to change the LEDs in the fans? Im saving for new upgrades so cant afford to buy 6 new fans :)

Ill try and get some for your Thundy, i was up last night till 2 just trying to figure out how to get the pump/res in with the Thermaltake PSU because its so long lol. Got it in though, ill try and get it all back together tonight and get some pics

Any joy with the photo's yet?
