**- Official Asus P5K Thread -**

The only thing that I have gained since the stock bios is better memory overclocking, the stock bios HATED dividers and it has improved since then, this one seem to be better for overclocking again however I don't intend to touch my oc till a bit more info is covered on the new features (over 0311) and I have more spare time on my hands. :)

I've been testing 0404 constantly and again, im really impressed at how this board seems to get better and better with each bios revision.

3.2ghz is now prime stable at 1.45vcore instead of the 1.48 i was originally at, before it would crash after 3 hours at 1.45v.
Memory overclocking has been boosted yet again, 333 strap seems to work great with my quad and 4 1gb sticks.

I can now do 4-4-4-12 at 1ghz mem @ 2.2v memtest+ stable, currently running prime, going to do 7 hours hopefully.

Memory sensitive benchmarks have seen a small boost (memtest bandwidth, sandra and everest)

Large font page update in progress. :)

*EDIT*

  • links to latest bios for each board added
  • current full supported range of Asus P35 boards added
  • picture clean up
  • driver links updated
In progress-
  • links and support for p5k prem
  • bios info and updates for the most popular boards

Onboard wifi is good, it has a good range and speeds. Software that can be used to create an AP is also quite good but I use the windows gui.As for cpu pll, gave me a 100mhz boost for quick benching speeds (3.8ghz) and 50mhz stable. :)

hmm...

Upon first booting, sometimes the corsair ram cooler fans make a vibrating noise for about 30 secs before ‘settling’.

Interesting to know I'm not the only one who has bought a dominator fan that makes an irritating noise.

Shoddy corsair quality.

yup for me 0404 is better for overclocking and benching the 05, 3.7 bench stable (cant do longer than 7 hours prime) and 3.2 was stable with 05 i was struggling to get 3.2 stable :(

The standard P5K is a great board; stable, clocks great and also easily moddable.

It only supports ddr2, however you might want to look at the gigabyte ds3 p35 if you can stretch.

Excellent thanks, is it recommended to leave it in IDE emulation mode then?

Yes. :)

Question about the standard PK5....

Can you expect the same kind of overclocking results as say on the "deluxe" version of the board?

No, but expect something close. :)

Dual cores will be clocking closer to the dlx than quads on the vanilla

Hiya guys im just after confirmation that the following set up will work.

Im gonna drop EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX KO ACS3 SILENT onto a PK5 deluxe and i know its going to block some of the Sata ports. (Im looking at the PDF of the manual here)

Now I want to use 2 of them as a RAID0 (couple of 500gb drives) so im assuming I can use ports SATA1 and SATA3 with the rightangle connectors for that.

In addition to that I want to have 2 SATA DVD-DL burners (samsung), Can I plug those into ports SATA5 and SATA6 and have them work while the controller is set to RAID?

Forgive the question but ive always done this with IDE raid and as such they have been on separate controllers.

Also any problems installing Vista64bit if i use this setup? Does it require a driver floppy? i was gonna try and build a PC without on this time but if im gonna need one to install the OS I may as well drop one in.

Thanks for any help.

For starters, you can still use all 6 internal stata headers with a gtx, i do.

2nd, plug your burners in the 'slave' ports and your 2 hard drives in 'master' ports

Enable raid in the bios and use the x64 floppy image from the first page. :)

woo, I can finally post in this topic :P

Because of my lack of cash, I was only able to but the P5KC, it should be here with me tomorrow, fingers crossed :D

Enjoy it :D
