Thanks, im using a P182 though, so im not sure the cables are long enough.

Would the 4 pin not work? (ive got a 4pin extender but not 8 pin)

8 pin is able to deliver more current than the 4 pin. However, if it works for you, great.

Anyone running 4gb in 4x1gb sticks on P5K, or does the memory controller freak out like a few other brands with 4 sticks? Only ask since mates pc of simular spec to mine, runs dam site better using Vista with 4gb.

Hmm... i need to see if i can get 1 or 2 of those asus heapipe fans from mm/'bay

Got a 90cfm sunon fan over the ram and n/b right now, cools well yes but it looks fugly

But i have the dlx so I'm looking for other owners who don't use the fans on their board so I can buy it off them.

Im looking a getting a ASUS P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP and im wondering which 1066 fsb ddr2 ram will work in it?

Does anyone have any idea on this please ?

move to bios 0404, manually enter the memory settings and set the voltage to 2.0-2.3v, make sure the chipset and memory are nice and cool.

Make sure that everything is at the correct stock values after you change it to manual.
Then start to oc

Thats the 8800 moaning about power loss, the p5k cuts the power to the gpu a little quicker than it likes.

whats your memory/cpu voltage set to?

set defaults from the bios with manual oc and see if that works?

try 2.1-2.2v, 1.35v cpu

even they are not that hot at stock, 32-45 idle depending on the ihs

Current idle temps with the q6600 are:
Tjunction: 100C
Core #0: 48C
Core #1: 48C
Core #2: 40C
Core #3: 43C

This is air cooled with a Tuiniq Tower (stock settings at present). Would you say it needs re-seating? I struggled like hell to get the damn thing on, so wouldn't be too surprised if it had messed the compound up.

When checking load temps, how long should you leave Prime running at 100%? I had around 79C for 15 mins, but had to go out, so stopped it.

Those are very high temps, when i first got my quad, i did some testing with my tuniq, got 35 idle and 50c quad prime after 50 mins with the fan on the lowest setting on the speed bracket.

Updates to software/bios/problems and the board range should come later on today

First, welcome to OcUK, read the FAQ and you will be fine.

Second that's a nice system, there! Go into the bios and have a look around, familiarise yourself the the users manual, a good introduction to the working of the bios (and overclocking) in in the asus manual.

Reset the bios to default, save and exit. Make sure the lan jack is clean as is the cable, make sure the cable works and try it with the stock dvd driver. If it doesn't work, send it back.

the "not plugged in" on the soundmax (onboard) sound card, i ve tried different headphones/speakers with no difference (i want to output my voicechat apps like ventrilo and skype on the headphones there)

Just enabled my on-board audio (i have an xfi) and I get exactly the same as you.

The mic/line-in works with the xfi set as the master (default) in/out but i have to set the on-board as the default to get the outputs to work (the xfi still works)

Might give the beta bios a whirl, see what it bring to the table.

Have tried to replicate the situation noufas but after i tell it what i have plugged in and selected the jack it works for me no matter what i try.
