Official Asus Rampage IV Extreme Thread

How you finding this bios as i'm using 2002 and everything is slower, can't go back to 1404 as won't except it?

I went with 2003 and have not noticed any difference between it and 1404. I did copy 1404 to BIOS2 before going to the new format in BIOS1 but never tried going back and running with it.

After months of searching i finally tracked down a TriSli bridge that would let me run my cards in 1-4-7 setup
ie TOP,MIDDLE and BOTTOM on my mobo for better airflow.
The problem is it keeps crashing during gaming or benching, it does not do it any other time.
I can run them stacked with no issues so it looks like a issue with the Black pci-e slot on my Rampage mobo.

Has anyone dealt with this or knows a solution b4 i RMA it, I really believe its just something simple
as apposed to a faulty board but i've tried everything:confused:

I have tried Xfire in that combination mate.

Its not something that a new board will help you with, you will have the same problems in that configuration I suspect. I have two boards here and neither work well in that configuration as is you have to play with the PCI offsets and CPU offsets. I suspect also as your graphics card is new the PCI 3.0 codes for that hardware will be in very early revision. I found with 7970 Trifire it got better with Bios revisions and easier to tune. I dont have 3 680 here to test only one sadly but the way your trying to set em up is a rocky road that takes time to get it correct.

Make sure you have the PCI EX EZ plug, pluged firmly in.

Now here is what you can try initially. Dont clock on BLK and try -1 CPU -10 PCI ,-2,-20,-3-30 mine likes -2-20 or -3,-30 on high BLK 131. Also try forcing PCI ex gen 2 and see if the gen 2 codes improve things. Remember the lanes are governed by the CPU so a small boost in VTT may be necessary also. Try doing this with no CPU overclock too then you are removing more variables and RAM on XMP Rampage Tweak Mode 1.

No problem. Let me know how it goes.

Just emailed one of teh Bios developers about this just to see if he is aware of it and has another solution.

I know initially when I had the problem it was all about the scews.

Set to gen2 in bios, cpu -2 pci -20 and my OC back at 4.4 (1.31v) on manual mem at 2135 settings 9-11-10-25 tweak mode 1
vtt 1.1935 vccsa 1.195 pll 1.4 max temp 68 intel burn on high.
everything as it was at pci-e3.

tried gen3 even using -3 -30 but no joy but happy ish as temps on cards using new bridge as dropped to 65/60/57 max gaming or bench so worth in that respect as no more throttling.:D
Can't seem to oc cards as high as b4 but hope that'll improve as drivers mature.
How high can u take the cpu and pci values?

would like to get back to gen3 as using tri sli as performance as dropped a bit from gen3, so any help you give will be much appreciated.
Thanks for your help so far :)

boot times faster,everything looks sweet.
quite a few reviews on ROG about it

Info on it:

It updates Fast Boot Options.

Use Numeric keypad DEL button (not the other DEL) to easier access BIOS after a reset in OS (Fast Boot Mode)

The health warning is that it is beta bios at the moment so use at own risk.

The download also has bios for Rampage-IV-Formula and Rampage-IV-Gene motherboards.

Back at gen3, full reinstall of everything to get it working :D
-3cpu and -30 pci on the scew
Cards are now running 16/8/8 so lost a little performance but temps are sweet.:)
On the scew setting is there a limit/max setting not to use or is it just trial and error.

Don't seem to be able to OC the cards as I did b4 so having a play with scew to see if that helps just didn't wanna damage anything

Don't know if it was the clean reinstall of everything or the Beta bios what sorted it,either way things on the up :)

Yep,found that out.
-3-30 seems to be ideal were i can keep gen3 working.
can't get mem back to 2400 stuck at 2135 also can't get past 4.4 but just have to keep
playing about.
thanks for taking time out to help

No problem.

What memory ??? what timings settings etc?? Remember the more PCI ex lanes in use the more pressure there is on the CPU. Give me your settings and I will try help you get your clocks back.
