Seems that 1300 is around the 'proper' max of the memory given that the performance degrades after this, so despite reviewers saying they seem to manage to max the memory completely I highly doubt their performance is as increasing with it.

Mine seem to max out at 1300 which tallys with others here and in any case these Hynix chips are only actually rated to 5000MHZ so a 50mhz OC seems about right for memory.

Now, onto the core, I'm tempted to raise the volts and use 1Ghz as 24/7 but I'm not sure if I want to go past stock volts (900-910Mhz) is my limit on stock.

Anyone running 1Ghz 24/7?

I've got Asus 5770s though so Voltage Adjustments doesn't bother me too much

Nor does it concern me in all honesty considering the asus cards are exactly the same as all other 5770s apart from the unlocked bios!

I guess if Asus will offer such a warranty even with voltage tweaking then it is very unlikely to damage the cards, they do have a built in hardware voltage protection iirc as well

Crossfire 1ghz/1400 1.25v here.

I have my second card as primary so heat is not so bad.

I have a P5Q-E motherboard, if I put in a 5770 & use an old 9600gt I have for physx would I be cut down to 8x rather than 16x?

i know if I put in 2 5770's I would only get 8x (is that a big thing?) but with 2 different cards & 1 only used for physx would it still apply?

If your happy with one card's performance then no need to get a second one tbh, get something that you will use.

then again 2 x 5770s will play anything out there with ease

Yes you do, The P45 chipset also has a x4 slot as well, you could always use that for the 9600GT.

PCIEX version 2.0 x4 is equal to PCIEX version 1.0 at x8 so the 9600GT will be fine in that slot.

well sold an old 9800GTX+ so the a second 5770 will only cost me £65 lol.

I've got 2 asus v2 cards running at 33% and they are annoying to say the least (it's the only thing i can hear), my 8800gtx was silent

I cannot hear them above my cpu fan and thats on low, maybe you just got noisy cards?

I don't know if I'd call what I'm hearing a whistling, but there's definitely a high-pitched noise coming from the fan. It reminds me of the noise the 80mm fans on my old PC used to make...a high-pitched, slightly rough sound.

If any of you guys/gals with an Asus or Sapphire have some decent equipment for recording, could you whack a mic about 6 inches away from your card and record the sound it's making when the fan's at 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%?

I might send this puppy back.....

Not quite getting 17k from 3dmark like the review says... but could be due to my p45

after the answer to this question also to be honest. Need to know if I need to continue saving to get a 5850 or 5870 etc instead.

Setup is:

i7 860 at 2.8ghz
6gb ddr3
p55 mobo

native monitor res is 1920x1080 (samsung 22inch jobby)

I want to play AVP3 when it comes out but apart from that its the usual COD, WOW and left 4 dead etc
