** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Fortunately Trebor, there are several ways to fix your issue (unless it's what I have, which seems to be unfixable so far). If this is happening when just browsing the web or other mundane 2d tasks, try these:

Firstly, save a profile in CCC and then edit the profile file so your core and memory clocks "Want 0" values read 300 and 1200 respectively. Save the file and activate that profile in CCC.

If that fails, you can also try uninstalling the HDMI audio driver.

If it happens while playing games, you're probably in the same boat I am, and you can start by running memtest to see if your RAM is the problem. Also what is your system spec?

native monitor res is 1920x1080 (samsung 22inch jobby)

I want to play AVP3 when it comes out but apart from that its the usual COD, WOW and left 4 dead etc

I have 1 Sapphire 5770 in my phenom 550 BE build, im using a 24" monitor at 1920x1080 and havent noticed any problems playing in game with the game settings on medium - high (COD MW2, Op flashpoint dragon rising), hope this helps :)

also your second card will be running full speed in 2d mode as mine was, grab msi afterburner and it will tell you, going back to official 9.12's has fixed it
 
Roundabouts 5870 performance for a lot less money. Make sure you have a decent board with 8x 8x or 16x 16x pci-e slots though. P35 chipset or earlier will not suffice as one of the slots will only run at 4x.
 
Got one of these cards & for Grid it is great, for CSS is it great for TF2....well it is a bit of a dissapointment.
I had a 4850 before & it played TF2 on mostly high settings at 1920x1080, this card is really struggling with TF2. I have tried dropping some setting to medium etc but my fps still drops way down to 20 in battles (most of the time in TF2).

Setup is :-

Q6600 @ 3.6
P5Q-E
5770 900/1350
4gb RAM @1066 cl 5-5-5-15
Windows 7 64 bit
1920x1080 gaming res.

I have checked temps while playing GRID, it never goes over 70 (GPU-Z)

Any help/hints that help me play on settings above medium (soon to be low) would be greatly appreciated.

Not for me. But I can definitely say that the second card is not altering in speed since when I bump the speed up to max I then physically stop it and I cant hear the fan on the second card.

I may join you on the 9.12s actually. Presumably you had the hotfix on as well?
 
I'm tempted to get a 5770,but how does it compare to a 4870 or 260 at the same price range?

It's a fair bit better than those althought the 4890 is better at the same price! The 4890 dosen't have DX11, a display port and HDMI. On the other had none os these really bother me!

EDIT: Sorry it's about the same as the 260 if not a little better

Well I've just sold my 4890 for a 5770 vapor-x although I intend to get another as soon as for crossfire. The 5770 basically matches or betters the 260 in most games but in crossfire beats the 5850 and sometimes even the 5870.:eek:
 
That's a bit weird BeeP, on mine I get over 100fps with HL2, 1920x1080, maximum settings.

yeah i went back to the 9.12s release and the issue is gone;)
 
Sorry I meant around 100fps on TF2 not HL2. I dunno if it drops below 60 with heavy spam though cos I don't play it anymore, i'm too oldskool and loved the original TFC lol.
