** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Ok thanks.
I still dont see the thrill of paying so much more for 2 5770 instead of 1 5850 though. Seems madness.

Well i got my 2 5770 next day rather than wait for god knows how long and i can add another later as well.. :) and mine were trade so cheaper than a 5850 ;)

Ok thanks.

I paid £226 for 2 x 5770's that are considerably faster than a 5850 in everything.

For £16 extra that is a bargain imho.

Performance is practically 1:1 with a 5870 (faster in some things, slightly slower in others) and £75 less.

Hardly madness imho.

Are the drivers on the ATI site the latest ones to be using? Or are there any leaked betas out there I should give a look?

I've got a half day today and plan on getting round to installing this card. I've had it since Friday but not had a chance yet.

bumping my driver question

It does seem madness when you just clock a 5850 to 5870 levels or faster.
Why buy two i just dont get it personally. It is not like they work out cheaper.
I do want one but two i would have to get the 5850.

Any news on when Cat. 9.11 will officially be released ?

No idea but I tried the 9.11 beta I linked above and it ran L4D2 without any issues.

This was my first go with the card on account of me not having been home since it's delivery and I must say I'm really impressed. 1680 x 1050 with everything on and at it's highest and it ran superbly. I wasn't recording the frame rate, but it didn't feel low at all, just silky smooth! :D

Gonna just sit back and look at the results rather than question further and ruining a decent results thread.
I still want a single one so definately interested.

Well i have just done a few quick benchmarks:

CPU is a Core i7 [email protected]
2x5770 in CF overclocked to 900/1300 using MSI Afterburner

ok i have a dilleama after friday my 4870 512 is sold , my order for a 5850 i cancelled due to being told could be 3 weeks till i get it shipped , now do i go for 2 5770 in crossfire i game at 1900x1200 , but all i am doing is getting a card as fast as my 4870 is atm ?

A single 4870 is more or less equivalnet to a single 5770, not 2x5770s are equivalent to a 4870. 2 5770s will definitley outperform a 4870.

These look like cracking cards for the money. 2 in crossfire is a formidable setup from the reviews i have seen often faster than a 5870, cheaper and in stock :P

BTW - Unlocked ASUS 5770 bios >>HERE<<

Will be giving mine a flash over the next couple of days, break through this 960MHz barrier :D

OK, I have a watercooled 260 older version (192 cs) And game at 1650x1080. I want to add a second monitor of the same size.

I like ATi cards (only changed for Folding), and will be happy to go back. I was lloking at the 5850, but does seem to be a bit of a waste, if the 5770 is uo to the job.

The question is will it?
