Ahaaaaa! Cheers mate, so in short, it's a filter that boosts quality of the little things, loudens everything up, but overall, it's just a filter? I think I would rather have direct audio so will stick to 'Home Cinema' :)

Yes. It makes the sound range very tight. Quite sounds like birds become very loud and the guns and stuff even louder. It add a touch of distortion to mimic mic overload and a big boost to the gain (volume). From a purist point of view its very heavily treated. By all means try it out and if you like it - you like it, but IMO the mix and dynamic range is so much better when you set it to what youre using.

Most people disagree with me on this and sound is a personal thing. But I think a lot of people just get wow'd by "wartapes" without a regard to sound quality. I.e "OMG that sounds so much louder and real" when in fact its partly simulating bad mic pick up.

There's bound to be someone on here with far more knowledge then me on good quality sound and I'd be interested to hear what they have to say about the differences, these are just my own findings though and really there's no right and wrong.

Hope that's of some small help :)

I'm going to rigorously test once I have made dinner (sausage, mash and beans!!!!!!!! Pro meal for preparing a night long BC2 session :D).

To be honest, it sounded very busy when a lot was going on when I tried it for a short amount of time.

Like I said, I will try it and report back.

"Busy" is a good way of describing it. I find it very tiring for that reason.

Meal sounds lush by the way. I got salmon :( its nice when I'm eating it but I'm not getting too excited at this stage.

So the game seems to be pretty short. Reading and watching some playthroughs online, it seems to be equal to or shorter than MW2 campaign. Course thats not the reason why we buy this game, but hey! :D

Yeah I heard a dev say it was a 10 hours affair. Seems more like 6 from what people have said....its always the way though....devs must go through the game going "look at all this beautiful grass I placed here.....lets stop and contemplate its importance for a moment"

lol yea it seems to be that way. Doesn't bother me though, MP is where its at as we know, so SP is just an addon to me really.

Sausage and mash is pro food, can I come round for tea?

Well from what you guys are saying and the reviews I have seen it looks prety good, strong single player, stronger MP, ofc I do suck at MP console games so I am about to get my butt handed to me hehe but what the hey I think I shall get this tomorow!

Jcb33.

Oh no, did your No competitors copy not arrive then? Have you tried checking the tracking number to see if it has been delivered elsewhere in error?

Says come back later - so hopefully I'll get it tomorrow!

Glad you guys are having fun!!

Right guys, here is my evaluation for the sound settings, don't use the manual, it is mis leading.

All are (as Zensuji pointed out) 5.1 channel.

TV: for use with tiny speakers, that of a TV for example, if you have no sub. So use if you have a TV and are playing the sound through it (tested on my tv and sounded awsome).

Hi-Fi: For general high fi sound setup, like mine, 5.1, medium sized speakers, one big sub... Sounds the best to me, clear sounds, guns are loud and all the ranges are going to the right places

Home Cinema: Well, know those old school mahoosive speakers? if you use those, select this option

War Tapes: It's ok, it's all the above in one, it has a normalizer so when things get heated, those once lush footsteps get shoved somewhere in the sound range to allow for other things, it just gets very 'busy' and overly messy when a lot is going on. I would avoid as it does take away some of the quality, actually a fair amount. In short, it makes little things you would normall miss loud and clear, but at a price of large scale battle sound quality, which is what BC is all about. Would be perfect for the likes of splinter cell though :D

My copy arrived today, just had a couple of games and still love it! I especially liked the Hardcore mode – although it takes some getting used to not having certain HUD indicators, it’s a very enjoyable mode; solely as 60% of the opposing team on a game I played (Arica Harbour), decided to play sniper and camp in the most obvious spots. A quick dash up the hill and I get a total of 7 knife kills in the space of 20 seconds :D

Roll on more play time I say!!

I haven't got the game yet but would have though Hi Fi and Home Cinema would have been the other way round?

Tis what I thought, but I got the final conclusion that when I fired my gun through HC it directed most of the sound to the sub and felt flat through the speakers, when through hi fi it had the same 'thud' as the HC setting but much more clear through the 5 speaker tweeters and in total a much crisper sound as well as the thud.

I have the onkyo HT-3200 system.

So look up the specs, to see what basis i am going on.

Back to my game :D Sausages, mash and beans bubbling away in my gut, I'm ready for war :D

Online is a rather big culture shock for me, trying to come to terms with it, love how you can choose to spawn at a team mates position, maps are pretty large, but the destructable envioments seem about the right amount of solid and stuff that can be completely smashed up.
