I did keep trying but the game invite kept disappearing after you had sent it. I'm going to start using my headset for this game, as I think it's a must.

Easy fix, just run around knifing everybody and avoid tanks.

I'm rank 18 and put around 15 hours into it.

Some good games last night. The difference between lone wolfing and playing in a squad is night and day.
I'll be on from about 7ish tonight, if you see me on gimme an invite.

I got your invite last night but I was already in a squad with some real life friends. I should be around this evening though

That's how I play COD, I'm still getting my ass handed to me. It works really well in COD but not in BC2. Maybe I need to just camp with my trusty sniper rifle. I'm going to have another game tonight (assuming the servers stay up long enough to keep me from MW2).

That's how I play and I seem to do quite well, most of the time I'm at the top of the leaderboard. Maybe you just need a decent squad to watch your back.

I normally hate snipers but I thought i'd give them a go yesterday and I do quite like the class but after 5 minutes of sitting in the same spot I got bored and had to swap back to my trusty medic class.

I absoloutely loved sniping in Battlefield 2 but the maps aren't as good for it in this. I like being in the action as a medic in BC2

I love playing sniper, but I play it as a support class. I don't use the mortar strike to further my own means (eg I'll wait until we're capturing a point and then I'll mortar strike after we've initiated the capture to stop the enemy from preventing the capture), and I hang back and keep overwatch on our advancing forces when they're heading into the fray. If snipers are spotted by our team, I do my best to take them out as a good sniper can cause mayhem when they get going.

I have been rather successful at the above and I find it extremely rewarding when I manage to protect / assist a capture, or find that one sniper that has been eating away at our attack. I find sniping in the BF games far more enjoyable than I do in most others.

What's all this air strike/mortar stike stuff I keep hearing about? Is that an unlock? If so how is stuff like this unlocked in this game?

Can you use the UAV for anything other than spotting? I'm sure I've seen people firing stuff from it but I can't figure out how.

Its one of the first unlocks for recon iirc.

You need to make sure you got ALT weapon on your kit to give you the machine gun for the uav, and when you unlock the smoke addon you can kill people with smoke from the uav

Pull RT and it will fire off a missile that you can track. Takes a good while to reload though.

And as said above you have to unlock an addon to use the machine gun on it.

You unlock a mortar strike with the sniper kit, 3rd unlock iirc.

Push RT and the UAV fires a missle, also you can use your alternate weapon pack(3rd customize slot) and it equips the UAV with a machine gun.

And the UAV? God I feel like such a n00b with this game. The manual is useless though, tells you nothing about unlocks etc.

I think you're meant to play the single player to learn what stuff does.

If you right-trigger, it'll call in a hellfire missile, and then later on if you get the advanced weapon package for the vehicles, you can then get a secondary chain gun on the UAV.

In SP once you get that T88 sniper rifle its far to easy. You can single shot kill with chest shots and you basically have unlimited ammo on normal while shooting without coming out of scope.

Didn't realise that recon gets mortar strikes as well as C4! I think they should give the mortar strikes to assault.

At least with the new health system if you get hit by a sniper you can take cover and heal. Used to get lots of assist kills with sniper on BF2 after taking them down to one bar!
