Do many still play the vietnam expansion? I enjoyed it at first but after a while the appeal fell away. Maps had quite a few choke points, whereas the vanilla game just seemed spot on.

Hill 137 was the only map i played, other maps i disliked, and the last time i played it, there was only like 5-6 servers.

As to why people play normal vs HC...just read through one of the thousand times it was already argued in this thread.

Where abouts is the discussion about HC v.s Normal in here? Can't find it.

It takes about 6 bullets in normal mode, depending on the weapon. Let's not get into the normal vs HC debate again though

Haha sounds like i've missed out on something here, link me please! :D

Search this thread for softcore, noobcore, etc...you'll find the arguments very quickly with those I imagine.

Basically, the views tend to be very polarised. I personally prefer normal to hardcore. Others prefer hardcore. Very often in the past any attempt at discussion about the pros and cons turns into a massive flamewar, though maybe there aren't enough people playing any more for that to be such an issue.

That was actually a pretty decent map, i always thought it was a little on the big side for 32 players. Same with some of the later vanilla maps. The heavy metal map being one of note, it would be an ideal bf3 map due to it's size and the amount of vehicles in it.

Yeah, Heavy Metal was far too large for BC2. However, the SQDM version of it is probably one of the best maps though.

SQDM on bc2 in general is a fantastic game mode, particularly if the players agree to leave out the IFV. Used to play that type of game with a few of the guys on here. Made for some great close quarters infantry only battles. But even if the IFV was involved, it was pretty easy to take it out.

I personally love it when people use it. It's very easy to take out by yourself and insanely easy to do so when working as a team. I don't use it a huge amount personally because it's quicker to get kills without it but now and again it's fun to run around and try to get a few road kills.

The only thing that ever annoys me in SQDM is camping...and thankfully the killcam makes it fairly easy to take out a camper after they've got one kill.

Yep, recon with a g3 assault rifle and some c4, lead to some hilariously funny moments chasing tanks/apc's. Quite often i ended up as a roadkill victim. But when you do get the charges planted and detonated, it's very satisfying. Saying that, in my haste to detonate the charges, i sometimes forgot to get clear in time.:D

I'm far too addicted to the ump so my method of tank killing tends to be to charge it with my repair tool out and then finish it off with my RPG (when I survive....) :p

It's still a good game, and good fun to be had. Just trying to plat everything now.

It would be amazing if the developers opened it up for modders, we can dream!
