Because dice/ea never provided tools to allow us to do this. Closed servers also make this hard/impossible.

Actually there is some modding going on of BC2. Allows you to play on privately hosted servers (you can host your own).

You can also edit the game files to remove level boundaries, mess with weapon damages etc.

I've been frequenting what purports to be an offical EA server called "The Ultimate Fun Server". The catch is that it has unlimited ammo and rewards a lot of xp per kill.

On an unrelated note, I've had great difficulty in playing the vietnam expansion, as I cannot connect to any servers. Anyone else experience any issue with this?

There's like 5 servers running the expansion the last time i was on it, not exactly worthwhile of investing your time in it.

BF: Bad company 2

Hi all
I already have BF3 premium but recently played BC2 on my bros pc.
I didnt play mp as it was just a quick go but i found that i prefered the feel of BC2 over BF3.

Im thinking of getting BC2 and maybe the vietnam expansion in the upcoming steam sale but have 1 question.

Do a lot of people still play BC2 online?

no where near as many that used to as you can imagine (years passing/new games), but there still are quite popular servers up and running.

absolutely loved the vietnam maps! the huey helicopters were mad!!! so fast and could spin them round like nobodies business xD

had a little blast on the game a month or so ago but it's such a different feel to BF3, run slower.... can't run and strafe at the same time. (WTF how did we manage?!?!?!) but still golden things like the tracer darts.... nothing more satisfying than getting a tag on a chopper and then seeing about 20 RPGs all going for them xD
